For the Disneyland Resort, that spark is ignited by the Imagineers. Over 50 years ago, when Walt Disney was planning the theme park of his dreams, he turned to the most creative people he knew the artists responsible for the awardwinning animated movies of the Walt Disney company. He hand selected this group to visualize, design and build Disneyland park. Today, the Imagineers are responsible for every Disney theme park throughout the world. But we will always remember it all started in an orange grove in Southern California. 1

7 Disney s Grand Californian Hotel was designed as a tribute to the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries. The Imagineers adhered to the vision of the founders of the Arts and Crafts movement, who wanted to create a unified aesthetic, encompassing everything from the architecture of a structure all the way down to the design of its furniture, fixtures and decorations. The Imagineers were specifically inspired by 6 designers: Frank Lloyd Wright, Albert Schweinfurth, Bernard Maybeck, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Charles and Henry Greene. All in an attempt to inspire our guests. 5
