1 January 2018 Denver & Rio Grande Western Road Number 805 This 80 heavyweight diner car is painted in Rio Grande gold, silver and black and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. This diner was used on trains in the heart of the Rockies, such as the famous Ski Train in Denver. D&RGW was formed in 1870 and operated the highest mainline railroad in the United States through the Colorado Rockies at an altitude of 10,240 feet. Norfolk & Western Road Number 1018 This 80 heavyweight diner car is maroon with buff lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. The Norfolk & Western was a Class I railroad that was headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia. While the railroad is known for massive coal trains, N&W also ran many passenger trains between Norfolk and Columbus as well as other routes on the East Coast. The 1947 Friendship Train collected food donated by Americans in cities all across the U.S. to be shipped to the people of France and Italy who desperately needed help following the end of World War II. Ultimately, over 250 railcars of food and clothing were donated. FRIENDSHIP TRAIN SERIES CAR #12 # $28.90 HEINZ Road Number HJH Co. 449 This 36 wood sheathed ice reefer with truss rods is brown with decorated sides and runs on Arch Bar trucks. The H.J. Heinz Company was founded in 1869 by Henry John Heinz, first manufacturing horseradish. By the early 1900s, Heinz was manufacturing over 60 food products and relied heavily on their fleet of over 700 colorful billboard boxcars to distribute their products across the country. 2 Kansas City Southern Road Number KCS 9027 This 70 husky stack well car is brown with white lettering and runs on ASF Ride Control Trucks. Built in 1996, this series Kansas City Southern well car accepted containers up to 48 in length in its bottom well position. The Husky-Stack well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA. Norfolk Southern Road Number NS This 60 excess height box car with double plug doors and waffle sides is brown with white lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built by Berwick in late 1978 for Conrail, it was later transferred to Norfolk Southern through mergers. As a high-cube car, it exceeds Plate F dimensions and was designed for Auto Parts service with Ford, and later General Motors.
