22 FUN FACTS FUN FACTS Sevierville is Dolly s Hometown Dolly Parton grew up in the shadow of her beloved Smoky Mountains and was appearing regularly on WSEV radio in Sevierville before she was ten years old. After graduating from Sevier County High School in 1964, Dolly Parton moved to Nashville to become famous a statement that left many of her classmates laughing at her. Now, 3,000 songs, 9 Grammy awards and countless other industry awards later, Dolly certainly has made good on her word. Dolly has given back to her hometown in many ways over the years, from creating jobs with her theme parks and attractions to promoting literacy through The Imagination Library and working to improve the quality and availability of healthcare for Sevier County citizens through the Robert F. Thomas foundation. Appreciation for Dolly Parton can be seen throughout Sevierville. Dolly Parton Parkway is a major thoroughfare and one of the city s most beloved statues is that of Dolly Parton.
