This is a privately initiated request for an amendment to the Future Land Use Map, whichh meets the criteria for being reviewed as a small scale amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Plant City. The Planning Commission, pursuant to Florida Statutes, is required to provide recommendations to the Plant City City Commission on all proposed changes to the Comprehensivee Plan. The amendment (PC/CPA 13 02) is located in the northwest quadrant of Plant City, at the northwest corner of Paul Buchman Highwayy (SR 39) and West Terrace Street. The subject amendment area is vacant, totaling approximately 1.79± acres of land. The amendment site is currently designated Residential 4. The petitioner is requesting a Commercial designation n for the subject property, stating a desire to develop a commercial/retail establishment at this location. Residential 4 does not allow for commercial consideration. RECOMMENDATION: This item is for your information only. No actionn is required. 3 City of Plant City Comprehensive Plan Amendment PC/CPA Briefing One privately initiated map amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for the City of Plant City was submitted before the deadline of June 3, A processing schedule was developed by staff, including setting several important meeting and hearing dates, which are as follows: August 12 Briefing with the Planning Commission September 9 Public Hearing with the Planning Commission September 12 Meeting with the Plant City Planning Board October 28 Adoption Public Hearing with the Plant City City Commission As part of the process for this amendment, staff requested numerous agencies and departments review and comment on PC/CPA 13 02, these include: City of Plant City Hillsborough County Other Agencies Fire Rescue, Planning & Growth Management Dept., Public Works Dept., Recreation Dept., Sheriff Office and Solid Waste Dept. City Manager, Assistant City Manager, City Attorney, Community Development Dept., Engineer Div., Fire Dept., Planning & Zoning Div., Police Dept., Public Works Dept. and Recreation Dept. Aviation Authority, Environmental Protection Commission, Dept. of Transportation, Planning Commission Transportation and County Teams, School District, Southwest Florida Water Management District, Tampa Bay Water and Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council Input from these sources will be compiled for inclusion in the staff report of the Planning Commission.
