28 SIX SENSES FORT BARWARA, INDIA A restored 14th century Rajasthan fort is the extraordinary setting for Six Senses Fort Bawara. Situated 68 miles (110 kilometers) southeast of Jaipur, the property is located in the village of Chauth ka Barwara on the site of a 700-year-old fort which was owned by the Rajasthani Royal Family and sits directly opposite the temple, Chauth ka Barwara Mandir. Just 48 suites have been created within the 5.5-acre (2.2-hectare) site encircled by a towering rock wall. Key focus was to reinterpret the gracious and rich history of the fort while incorporating every modern creature comfort. Repurposing history for wellness. Three palaces and temples within the historic fort have been restored and incorporated into the dining and wellness offerings, with the original woman s palace hosting an impressive Six Senses Spa.
