50 Mouraria Where the Moors were allowed to live after the Christian reconquest of Lisbon in 1147, remains the most multiethnic neighborhood in the city. Alfama and Castelo Medieval district, once the Moorish and Jewish quarter before it became a fishing community. 54 Campo de Ourique and Príncipe Real Mercado de Campo de Ourique (market opened since 1934, it's more than a shopping destination, it's also a place for meals throughout the day) Reservatório da Mãe D'Água das Amoreiras (is the entry into Lisbon of the Águas Livres Aqueduct, was built in 1748) Jardim da Estrela (garden that dates back to 1852, and is a lovely spot for reading, for children to play, or to work out) Basílica da Estrela (royal Basilica of Estrela is a baroque and neoclassical building built by Queen Maria I in 1790) Jardim Botânico (slightly neglected, Lisbon's botanical garden is perhaps in part because of that, an enchanting sight) Bairro do Principe Real (residential district, filled with gardens, a couple of the city's most tranquil squares, and colorful mansions) 54
