Each Reserve represents an extraordinary landscape and distinct ecosystem, and offers an array of activities and excursions. You may stay at either Valle California Reserve or Melimoyu Reserve, or combine the two for a more comprehensive experience of Chilean Patagonia, from the Andes mountains to the Pacific coast. MELIMOYU Esquel VALLE CALIFORNIA Coyhaique Melimoyu: Our coastal rainforest and glacier Reserve in the Gulf of Corcovado. With resident caretakers, professional chefs, top-flight sporting and safety equipment, and experienced, bilingual guides, we have taken the guesswork out of your travel to Patagonia. Our guests enjoy extraordinary natural treasures that are unique in the world: pristine coastal areas, scenic river valleys, spectacular lake frontages, soaring glaciercovered volcanoes, awe-inspiring fjords, verdant forests, and unspoiled wildlife habitats. 5 Programs & Planning We offer 3-, 4-, and 7-night programs, or you may combine them for a longer stay. Stays at The Patagonia Sur Reserves are all-inclusive, with: Accommodations with twice-daily housekeeping and laundry service; Gourmet meals, snacks, and open bar; Fully guided daily activities and top-flight sporting equipment; Charter flights and ground transportation between Puerto Montt, Chile (PMC) and the Reserves; Helicopter excursions. Reservations are first-come, first-served and you are welcome to stay as long as you d like. For the international traveler, departing from home a full day earlier allows for a relaxing day and night in Santiago or Puerto Varas, before heading deeper into Patagonia. 6 VALLE CALIFORNIA valle california Latitude: S Longitude: W Our Valle California Reserve, named La Estrella (The Star), lies in a picturesque valley that embodies the essence of Patagonia. Located near the Argentine border and framed by the snow-capped Andes Mountains, Valle California was originally settled in the 1920s by the region s first gauchos. Valle California s La Estrella retains its ranch culture and authentic Patagonian feel, where winding rivers, crystalline mountain lakes, ancient lenga forests, and the adjacent Lago Palena National Reserve (49,400 hectares / 122,000 acres) invite endless exploration. La Estrella is the quintessential ranch setting and encourages a rhythm of bygone days spent riding horses, casting fishing lines, stretching out before the campfire, and stargazing.

Our accommodations blend serene comfort, rustic elegance, and Patagonian authenticity with environmental sustainability and responsibility. La Estrella Ranch offers a constellation of six luxuriously appointed yurts, stables, the Pequeña Granja (Little Farm), and the Quincho, our gathering place for meals, socializing, and relaxation. Valle California offers a never-ending array of outdoor activities. Adventure opportunities include extensive horseback riding paths, hiking trails with varying levels of duration and difficulty, river kayaking and float trips, mountain biking, limitless bird watching, fly fishing, helicopter tours to access our remote and favorite secret spots (such as Lago Palena glacier), conservation and community projects, and interactive farming and nature discovery activities designed especially for children.

9 MELIMOYU melimoyu Latitude: S Longitude: W Nestled within the stunning Gulf of Corcovado, Melimoyu is a nature enthusiast s dream. A richly diverse study in contrasts, Melimoyu Reserve offers spectacular variety: rainforests, magnificent waterfalls, glacier-covered Mt. Melimoyu (elevation 2,400 meters), and exclusive access to an ecosystem that is home to a combination of rare species not found anywhere else, including Darwin s frog and blue whales. Unique in the world, Melimoyu lies at the nexus of the southern edge of the Valdivian temperate rainforest and the northern edge of the sub-antarctic rainforest. Abundant wildlife includes pumas, foxes, pudús (an endangered miniature deer native to Chile), and an incredible array of birds. Melimoyu s marine life is unparalleled: during each summer, the southern hemisphere s population of blue whales congregates just off the coast to feed for the first time after delivering their calves. Plentiful and entertaining dolphins, penguins, seals, and sea lions complete Melimoyu s truly extraordinary marine offerings.

11 Accommodations Activities In Melimoyu, Casa Bahía ( Bay House ) features six elegant guest rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Our Melimoyu facilities also include a hot tub overlooking the Melimoyu Bay, and a riverside activity center equipped with an open fireplace, fishing gear, and a variety of kayaks, rafts, and boats for exploring the river. With its untouched wilderness and abundant wildlife and no road access Melimoyu is a truly magical place. Fishing enthusiasts will delight in the property s diverse fresh and saltwater species. Popular excursions include sea safaris and river trips, sea kayaking, hiking, fly fishing, Citizen Science interaction through MERI (Melimoyu Ecosystem Research Institute), and helicopter trips to access our remote and treasured secret spots such as the Melimoyu glacier to toast with a very cool pisco sour.

Our chefs are eager to cater to your requests, know your dietary preferences, and prepare kid-friendly options. Drinks and hors d oeuvres are offered every evening, and our chefs make the best pisco sours in Patagonia. You are always welcome in our open kitchens, and are sure to return home with a few new favorite recipes. Guests are welcomed and encouraged to participate in hands-on projects including: The Patagonia Sur Foundation: Seeks to preserve the local culture and works with local communities on issues including conservation education, micro-enterprise, and sustainable development. Guests may visit local schools, tour organic gardens we ve helped establish, and meet the women of our weavers cooperative who are conserving traditional spinning and weaving techniques. MERI (Melimoyu Ecosystem Research Institute): An independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to research, interpret, and ensure the conservation of Melimoyu s extraordinary and pristine terrestrial and marine ecosystem. Guests are invited to join our scientists-inresidence with their ongoing studies of blue whales, the Melimoyu Glacier, and rare flora and fauna. The Reforestation & Biodiversity Project: In the early 1900s, settlers burned more than seven million acres in Chilean Patagonia to clear land for pasture. Patagonia Sur is reforesting these areas by planting millions of nativespecies trees. In addition to sequestering carbon dioxide, this initiative benefits the area s ecology and creates numerous local jobs. Guests are welcome to visit the reforestation areas and help plant and monitor trees.

14 Need to Know getting here Upon arrival in Puerto Montt, Chile (PMC) the gateway to Patagonia and only a 90-minute flight from Santiago we whisk guests away on an incredibly scenic one-hour charter flight directly to the Reserve of your choice. planning Prior to the first day of your Patagonia Sur Reserves program, you may either: Fly into Santiago, Chile (SCL), connect to a domestic commercial flight to Puerto Montt (PMC), and spend the night in nearby Puerto Varas. On the first day of your Patagonia Sur Reserves program, you ll take a mid-day charter flight to the Reserve of your choice. Fly into Santiago, Chile (SCL), and spend the day and night in Santiago. The morning of the first day of your Patagonia Sur Reserves program, you ll take a domestic commercial flight to Puerto Montt (PMC), and connect to your mid-day charter flight to your chosen Reserve. Whether you overnight in Puerto Varas or in Santiago, you need to arrive at the Puerto Montt airport no later than 12 noon on the first day of your program to board the charter flight to the Reserves. On the last day of your stay with Patagonia Sur Reserves, your return charter flight will land in Puerto Montt in the afternoon, allowing you to book your travel arrangements leaving Puerto Montt at 5 p.m. or later. weather The region enjoys a microclimate with mild, warm weather from November to April the southern hemisphere s summer months.
