Guarded by a colony of sea lions, the beach is home to Galapagos hawks and endemic finches. Swim and snorkel with the marine life, including manta rays and white-tipped sharks. Continue on and meander through the volcanic terrain of Suarez Point. During your nature walk, watch for hooded mocking birds, lava lizards, Sally Lightfoot crabs and blue-footed boobies. Venture to count Waved Albatross at the world s largest colony. Finally, visit the spectacular Soplador (blowhole) where water shoots 75 feet into the air. (B, L, D) Day 12: Saturday, February 16, 2019 Floreana Island (Post Office Bay and Cormorant Point) Land at storied Post Office Bay, named for a barrel left in 1793 by Captain James Colnett as a post office for passing sailors. Continue the tradition and leave a letter for a loved one. Snorkel, if you choose, with green sea turtles or set out to search for Darwin s finches and yellow warblers. Sail to Cormorant Point and its olivine green sand beach. Try to spot stingrays and reef sharks in the emerald waters. Learn about the ecosystem s unusual plants. You may also observe graceful flamingos or spot a small colony of penguins. Seize another chance to snorkel and swim near playful sea lions! Trek through the Santa Cruz highlands to Cerro Chato and find more giant tortoises. Take a break to savor some organic Galapagos coffee before we embark on a walk inside dormant lava tubes to gain insight on how these pristine islands formed. Enjoy time to explore Port Ayora town. 7 Day 14: Monday, February 18, 2019 Carrion Point - Disembark Ship - Baltra Island - Quito Garner panoramic views as you circumnavigate Carrion Point. Keep an eye out for marine iguanas, fur seals and crabs teetering along the rocky shore. Bid farewell to the Galapagos and fly back to the magnificent city of Quito. 8 Please Note: Rates do not include the approximate 100 USD Galapagos National Park and 20 USD Galapagos National Institute entrance fees. The currency in Ecuador is the USD. Smaller buses, which may not be lavatory equipped, may be used on this program. In this case, frequent stops are made during travel periods. In general, hotels in Peru (outside of Lima) are small with one or two levels and do not have elevators which may require you to climb steps to get to/from the room. The days and order of sightseeing may change to best utilize your time on tour. The itinerary is subject to change due to weather conditions or National Park directives. The captain may deviate from the published itinerary for any reason he deems advisable. The normal daily schedule when on board the ship consists of a shore excursion immediately following breakfast, return aboard for lunch, and an afternoon shore excursion. Transfers to/from the boat are by small boats called "pangas." Landings are either "dry" or "wet" and you might have to wade ashore in shallow water. At all times you are accompanied by your naturalist guide. Shore excursions normally last hours each. In some cases, the terrain can be a little strenuous. Passengers should consult their physician should they have any concerns regarding their physical condition. Children must be 7 years or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children must be younger than 12 for child reduction to apply. Child rate only applies if sharing cabin with 2 adults. In addition, temperatures on this tour can be very high, so bring adequate sun protection. Each guest is responsible for proper medical documentation and inoculations that may be required and/or recommended to participate on this tour. Suggested tipping on board cruise: 15 USD per person, per day, for the onboard crew and 10 USD per person, per day, for the naturalist guides. The internal flights on this program in Peru and Ecuador are not included in the land price and must be purchased with the air portion of your tour. Internal flights that are purchased will be ticketed and distributed on tour by your Tour Manager. Arrive in Salinas and gather for lunch featuring regional specialties and Afro-Ecuadorian music and dance.
