2 National Commission on Space Activities CONAE is a specialized agency created in May 1991 with the mandate to promote the development of space activities of the country according to national interests. It has a Strategic Plan: the National Space Program, which is focused on Earth Observation. 2
3 The National Space Program It is CONAE s mandate to elaborate and implement the National Space Program. This is a strategic program created with a horizon of 11 years, to be periodically revised and updated. In its elaboration participated representatives from all national scientific and technical community as well as international experts. 3
4 The National Space Program The Space Program particularly emphasizes the use and scope of the concept of Space Information Cycles The gathering of timely and adequate space information on the national territory, both land and sea, which, conveniently combined with information from other sources, contributes to optimize specific socioeconomic activities of the country. 4
