3 SOUTHERN ICE FIELD GLACIERS KING PENGUINS IN TIERRA DEL FUEGO Kaweskar Route Park King Penguin To sail through the glaciers of the Southern Ice Field is a fascinating and incredible experience that motivates travellers who look for virgin and uncharted places to visit. This route offers an incredible amount of glaciers to explore and admire while sailing among icebergs or simply walking on a glacier moraine. The Southern Ice Field, and its counterpart, the Northern Ice Field are the third fresh water reserve on the planet. The Kaweskar Route gives you the chance to observe the vestiges of the last glaciations, with fjords and glaciers which you can see for yourself while you sail on M/V Skorpios III, with its outstanding and personalised service. To visit Tierra del Fuego and the Park King Penguin at the end of the world, it is an experience that it is necessary to live. Early Morning from Punta Arenas, we will board the airplane from Aerovías DAP and we will fly to Porvenir in Tierra del Fuego, enjoying from the heights a unique image of the mythic Strait of Magellan and its environment, flying during 20 minutes. At the aerodrome of the city, a shuttle is waiting for us to realize a tour for the town and its surroundings. We will continue our trip 120 kms to the south to Bahía Inútil to visit the Park Penguin King, which offers to the visitors the possibility of observing, respectfully with the environment, this wonderful species of penguins that impress for their color and size. King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) is a migratory bird that moves from their breeding sites in some sub - Antarctic islands in search of food. It is the second largest species of Penguin after Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri). We will stay 1 hour at this place and we will back to Porvenir enjoying the Patagonian landscape and its wild natural environment. Return to Punta Arenas at the end of the day by air. 4 PENGUINS AND GLACIERS PROGRAM: DESCRIPTION 2 nights in Punta Arenas and 3 nights on the Kaweskar Route Tour. LAND / AIR TRACK DAY 1: (Wednesday or Sunday). Arrival at Punta Arenas Airport, reception and transfer to hotel of your choice. Immediate check-in if you arrive after 14:00 hrs. Free afternoon and overnight stay. Your luggage is kept in the checked baggage section if you arrive before midday. We suggest that you tour the city of Punta Arenas in the afternoon, visiting its Main Square, colourful and beautiful European style streets, walk along the promenade and admire the spectacle of the wind blowing over the Strait of Magellan or the historical museums in the city. You can also visit the free zone with its tax free shops. Overnight stay in hotel. DAY 2: (Thursday or Monday). 07:30 hrs. Early breakfast and transfer to airport to board the airplane of Aerovías DAP and we will fly per 20 minutes to Porvenir, in Tierra del Fuego, crossing the Magellan Strait. Coordination for transfer to Puerto Natales, which varies according to the date the ship sails. Arrival in Puerto Natales. Passengers are received at Skorpios Terminal offices. 16:00 hrs. Embarkation on M/V Skorpios III. 17:15 hrs. Lecture on ship safety. 17:30 to 18:00 hrs. The ship sails from Puerto Natales, and passes through the Angostura, Kirke, Morla Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento channels. DAY 4: (Saturday or Wednesday). 08:00 hrs. Arrival at Amalia Glacier. The ship sails close to the glacier, panoramic view of the glacier. 09:30 hrs. Landing on a nearby beach for a trek through sand, vegetation and rocks towards a mirador that offers a complete view of this beautiful glacier. 11:30 hrs. Departure for El Brujo Glacier. 14:00 hrs. Arrival at El Brujo Glacier. Weather and ice permitting, passengers may go ashore and look at this glacier from a nearby rock. 15:30 hrs. Sailing for spectacular Fiordo Calvo. 17:10 hrs. Landfall on Fiordo Calvo, excursion on the Capitán Constantino icebreaker, visiting the Fernando, Capitán Constatino and Alipio glaciers among others. 20:00 hrs. Setting forth for Fiordo de las Montañas. DAY 5: (Sunday or Thursday). Visit to Fiordo de las Montañas with sightings of four glaciers, which come down Cordillera Sarmiento and fall into the sea. MARITIME / LAND / AIR TRACK disembarking on our special exploration crafts to sail in this tiny bay with its attractive glacier, and appreciating its beauty and that of the surrounding mountains. 10:30 hrs. Back to Skorpios III. We continue to sail on to Fiordo de las Montañas en route to Bernal Glacier. 11:15 hrs. Disembarking on the Glacier. A trek through a small native rainforest, following a path that crosses as small glacier lagoon; we continue our trek on the front and lateral moraines until we reach the face of the Glacier, where we will be able to touch some ice formations and observe the shrinking of a glacier that no longer reaches the sea. Passengers return to ship, which is loading pure fresh water from a waterfall, and which is the water that is used on board for everything. 14:00 hrs. M/V Skorpios III continues sailing along the Fiordo de las Montañas, from where we can see the Herman and Zamudio Glaciers. 17:45 hrs. We arrive at the White Narrows, where we debark yet again on our exploration crafts, which take us to islands and rock formations with interesting local flora and fauna. 19:30 hrs. We return to the ship and get ready for the Captain's Dinner. 21:00 hrs. Farewell party; Captain's Dinner. Sailing through Golfo Almirante Montt. DAY 6: (Monday or Friday). Arrival at Puerto Natales between 02:00 and 07:00 hrs, according to weather. End of Southern Ice Fields Cruise. 08:00 and 09:30 hrs. Debarkation and transfer to Punta Arenas airport, on a bus specially appointed for Skorpios passengers. For subsequent private transfers, request information on fees.
