Delegates will be able to travel to the city of Mar del Plata by plane or overland. PLANE OPTION: Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) is located at 1 hour from Ezeiza international airport. It is used for domestic flights and for flights with neighboring countries. Delegates have several transfer options from Ezeiza Airport to Jorge Newbery Airport: Car services and private taxis: There are many taxi and car service companies located at the arrivals terminal exit. For further information, please visit the following web page: 5. GENERAL INFORMATION City of Mar del Plata The city of Mar del Plata is known as the happy city (la ciudad feliz, in Spanish). The hospitality of its people combines with the charm and beauty of its natural resources and the infrastructure and services available. Among its landmarks you can find the Casino, the Torreón del Monje, Los Troncos neighborhood, the port and Punta Mogotes beach and lighthouse. Located in the province of Buenos Aires, this coastal city is the most important tourist center in the Argentine Republic. 3

4 Entry formalities Most delegates do not require a visa to enter Argentina. You can check all visa requirements at However, for more certainty you should consult your embassy or consulate. Those who require a visa to enter Argentina should contact Miss Priscila Vento at pvento@enacom.gob.ar to request a letter of invitation that will be required from the Argentine Embassy in order to obtain the visa. Argentina does not require any vaccination certificates, except for the case of vaccination against cholera and yellow fever for passengers coming from countries in which the aforementioned deceases are endemic. Language Spanish is the official language; English is widely spoken. Power Argentina has alternating current and the voltage is of 220 Volts. Hotels usually have 110 v adaptors for appliances. Weather The weather of Mar del Plata City is warm and humid, with abundant rains throughout the year and cool temperatures. Usual values for this time of year range between 13º C (around 55º F) and 25ºC (77º F). Currency The peso (ARS) is Argentina s official currency. Although dollars are usually accepted, foreign exchange can be obtained in banks and authorized foreign exchange offices. The most widely accepted credit cards are American Express, VISA, Diners and Mastercard. Exchange rates may fluctuate. As of 15/11/2018 the dollar/peso official rate was: USD 1 = ARS

At the airport, tourists can get a 21% refund of the amount paid for Value Added Tax (VAT), if they have bought national products for amounts over ARS 70 (per purchase slip) at the shops adhered to the Global Refund system. Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm Cafés, bars and pizza restaurants: almost open round the clock, with a break between 2 and 6 in the morning. Restaurants: lunch is served from noon and dinner from 8.30 pm on. Many places offer fast food options at all times. Tips It is customary practice to leave a 10% tip in cafés and restaurants, as well as to tip porters, bell boys and ushers in theaters.
