2 - Europarc Federation was established in Main objectives of the federation are raising effectiveness of park management and networking among different protected areas round the Europe. - In 35 years we have become the largest umbrella organization of the parks, national agencies and some NGO s in Europe.

3 The EUROPARC Federation currently has 406 member organisations in 38 European countries covering more than 500 protected areas in Europe.

6 New Strategy and Work Programme As set in the new strategy EUROPARC s 2012 goal is to Ensure that member protected areas are managed by a network of highly professional, well informed practitioners, held together by a strong network and supported by decision makers at the national, regional and European level. 9 Transboundary Co-operation IUCN defines a transboundary protected area as: an area of land and/or sea that straddles one or more borders between states, subnational units such as provinces and regions, autonomous areas and/or areas beyond the limit of national sovereignty or jurisdiction, whose constituent parts are especially dedicated to the protection and maintenance of biological diversity, and of natural and associated cultural resources, and managed cooperatively through legal or other effective means.

10 Transboundary Parks Certification system developed by the EUROPARC Federation to reward exemplary high-quality transboundary cooperation between protected areas in Europe.

11 Junior Ranger programmes The aim of junior ranger programmes is to develop and implement practical programmes and activities based on the work of park rangers for interested youngsters, who live in or near a protected area.
