3 Outstanding Results, June 2014 International Visitors to Mexico (Banxico) According to a report by Banco de México, the number of international tourists traveling to Mexico surpassed 14.2 million in the first semester of 2014, becoming a new record high for any period. Furthermore, the incoming of foreign currency from international visitors to Mexico from January to June also was a high record totaling 8,435 million dollars, number not previously reached during any first semester in a year. During, 2014, the tourism balance was positive totaling 4,092 million dollars; number higher than the record achieved in any first semester in a year. The number of international visitors increased 2.8% with respect to, 2013, reaching 39.4 million of visitors. Hotel activity Domestic tourism The percentage of hotel occupation in a group of 70 resorts was 1.73% higher in comparison to their occupation in 2013, reaching 57.65% in the same period of The arrival of domestic tourists to hotel rooms in these 70 resorts during the first semester of 2014 was 23.7 million people, being 7.4% higher than the number reached in 2013 during the same period. 1

4 Air transportation The arrival of passengers by plane increased 9.7% during the first semester of 2014 in comparison to the arrivals during the period in 2013, reaching 24.1 million of air plane passengers. The arrival of passengers on domestic flights exceeded 15.3 million people; this is an increase of 9.1% in comparison to the period of Also, the number of domestic flights increased 5.4%. There were 8.8 million of passengers on international flights, which is an increase of 10.7% in comparison to the first semester of This result was accompanied by a higher number of international flights seen in the same period (7.3%). As for the number of people arriving by plane to Mexico by nationality, the following was recorded in the same period: Americans were the major group representing 56.5% of the total of air arrivals followed by Canadians with 15.3%; As for people arriving from Latin America and the Caribbean, Brazilians reached 2.1%. Maritime transportation The ports that received the highest number of cruise passengers during the period in 2014 were the following: Cozumel (1,779,607), Ensenada (356,325) and Majahual (241,111); Ensenada highlighted having an increase of 51.6% in comparison to the period of On the other hand, the total of arrivals increased 27.5% during the same period. 2

8 Thousands of tourists International visitors to Mexico Long-stay Tourism The arrival of tourists who remained within Mexico for a long stay increased 10.1% during the first five months of 2014 in comparison to the same months of the previous year, so that 87.6% arrived by air while the remaining 12.4% arrived by ground. 14 Thousands of passengers 528 Maritime transportation Passengers of tourism cruises During the first semester of 2014, the number of cruise passengers increased 628 thousand; this is an increase of 27.6% in comparison to the same period of the previous year.
