This course serves a coordination function for the highly field based practicum portion of the M.S. program as well as a space for reflection and integration of ideas. In addition, the course, which was taught over two semesters, helps students develop specific skills in personal leadership, group and organizational leadership, and management/business concepts that will support their careers in conservation. Spring 2003, Fall 2003 RR470 Tourism Impacts This course is designed to examine the impacts of tourism from several distinct but interrelated perspectives: social, political, economic and environmental. Limits to future tourism growth are discussed and possible planning strategies are detailed. The class is held in a seminar format, and case studies are used to highlight issues discussed in class. Summer 2004, Fall 2004 RR261 Principles of Interpretation This course is a sophomore/junior level course designed for students in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism. The course is designed to meet the needs of students in the Environmental Communications concentration and for Students in Tourism (required course). The course is also open to any other university student who is interested in understanding more about the field of interpretation.
