With an eclectic mix of operas and ballets running most of the year round, there is something for everyone. The other main site that Milan has to offer is "The Last Supper" fresco by Leonardo Da Vinci. Incredibly this survived heavy shelling during World War II, and can be visited but only if you can get hold of the often elusive tickets! Milan is very well situated for all types of holidays. If you want to have some time relaxing, Lake Maggiore is nearby, however, if you want more culture, Verona and Venice are very near too. This gothic building was built in the 5th century and took almost six further centuries to complete. 3 Milan - Lake Maggiore Day Trip (Only Sundays) To escape from the city for a day, opt for an island hop experience to Lake Maggiore, surrounded by majestic Alps and beautiful scenic gardens. You will be taken to Stresa, (around 1.5 hrs) for some time shopping, before your shared 2hr panoramic boat cruise on the lake, enjoying fresh crystalline waters. You will visit all three of the Borromee Islands Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella, before arriving back at Stresa to resume your transfer back to Milan. Please note this is available from 01 April 20 October on Sundays only. Price Per Person: From 100 Day 3 Guided Tour of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper Leonardo da Vinci first created quite a stir when he painted The Last Supper, and today you get a guided tour to witness this fresco for yourself. This painting has narrowly avoided two main disasters the paint badly fading so the figures became unrecognisable, the second almost being destroyed during the bombing of World War II. This enigmatic painting has led to speculation that it is Mary and not John sitting to Jesus right. Rest of day at leisure.
