DESCRIPTION Awesome skiing in the majestic scenery of the Dolomites.?? Famous itineraries and untracked snow in : Valgardena - Sella- Campitello - Canazei - Marmolada - Arabba - Passo Pordoi - Passo Falzareggo. Val Gardena sits in the heart of the Dolomites of South Tyrol. There lies the village of Selva (in Italian) or Wolkenstein (in German), this is our base for the Star Dolomites Tour. Each morning, you will eat a good typical breakfast in the "Hotel Bellevue", run by the Kelder family. From Selva, the lifts take you up towards different destination each day as we explore the Dolomiti Superski region. Here, there are 460 lifts that connect 1220 km of trails, in 11 different valleys. All in all, it spans about 40 different ski areas! Most skiers there will be busy doing the big on-piste circuits, such as "Sella Ronda." Off-piste, you will meet few people except on the most classic itineraries. Our goal is to offer the Dolomites to yourselves, skiing down vast snowfields, over-shadowed by rock pinnacles and huge cliffs, to finish in the forest, without meeting anybody else! Other routes lead you through canyons between rock towers or down steep chutes with a vertical drop of 1000 metres, to end in a charming village down in the valley. There you will discover a land that has preserved, through centuries, wars and modern tourism, its own culture and mountain traditions. The hightlight of this trip is the mountain hut night. It's just a spectacular view from upthere, sunset is the best!

(Click here and enjoy the 2014 galery) THE GUIDES -Hermann Comploj, native of Wolkenstein, member of the local Ski School and Guides Office, strong skier (former world cup downhiller) and good rock climber. His wife runs a cosy tea room with home-made cakes in their own home, certainly a good place to stop after skiing. -Reinhard Senoner, also native of Val Gardena, with strong attachment to his homeland, has been appreciated by the Australians, Scots, English, Americans and French that he has guided for 9V. -Alberto De Giuli was born in Padova, and he moved to the little village of Arabba 7 years ago to work full time as a mountain guide. The Sella Massif is his favourite playground with skis, and he loves to ski all the couloirs that have made this part of the Dolomites so famous around the world. Nowadays he lives with his girlfriend and their little baby Bianca near Cortina d'ampezzo, the Pearl of the Dolomites. LANGUAGES All natives of South Tyrol are bilingual, because Sud Tyrol was a part of Austria and has kept its traditional way of life and language, although this region now politically and economically belongs to Italy. The regional languages are German and the retto romane dialect, the national language, Italian. Most people involved with tourism have learnt to speak English.

5 OVERVIEW Ski off-piste itineraries for six days, discovering the highest peaks and new valleys with small villages each day, without going by the same itinerary twice. Discover the wild and spectacular regions of the Dolomiti area and descend 1500 to 2000 vertical metres in untracked snow. Experience a night in a mountain hut with a spectacular view. Drink a glass of wine with the locals and taste their specialities and produce. Enjoy the famous wood carving, a speciality of the area. ITINERARY DAY 1: Welcome meeting at Hotel Bellevue Participants and guide meet at the bar at 7pm. Verification of the individual equipment and distribution of the group equipment when needed. We also organise a beacon training. Dinner and night at the hotel. DAY 2: Skiing in the Val Gardena area. Possibilities abound - both with, or without hiking - from the peaks down to the forest. DAY 3: The classic itineraries of Passo Pordoi: Val Lasties, Val di Mesdi. A day under the sign of good skiing on amazing landscapes. DAY 4: Today we explore the Marmolada Massif - the highest mountain in the Dolomites and the only glaciercovered mountain in the area.

6 DAY 5: Skiing in the vast untracked terrain of the Corvara and Arabba areas. DAY 6: A big day followed by an unforgettable night. Bring your toothbrush! We will explore the areas around San Cassiano and ski to Passo Falzarego. There, we are treated to one of the most amazing views and incredible sunsets anywhere, as we spend the night in a mountain hut - Rifugio Lagazuoi. DAY 7: We leave the hut in the morning after breakfast and explore the Lagazuoi and La Villa areas. We'll make our way back towards home, and at the end of the day we'll return to Passo Gardena on skis, passing through Armentarola. DAY 8: You'll get charged up with a good breakfast, and then you'll be faced with a tough question as you look back on your week: How are you going to top that? Program subject to change, in order to make the best of prevailing weather and snow conditions. ACCESS TO THE UNTRACKED ITINERARIES From the top of a ski lift, we traverse, hike or skin away from the ski resort to find the secret passages that reward us with descents up to 2000 meters vertical (over 6000 vertical feet) on untracted slopes even after several days of good weahter. Your guide will adapt the daily program according to your skills and mood. 7 ACCOMMODATION: Half-board for 6 nights hotel Bellevue***, twin room. 1 half-board night in Rifugio Laguazuoi. The refuge has a sauna (extra charge). MEALS: Breakfast and dinner are provided by the hotel and are made with fresh dairies and local ingredients. LIFT PASSES: 6 days ski pass for all the ski resorts we cross (dolomiti superski pass + Marmolada). TRANSPORTATION: All transportation along the route during the safari for participants and baggages SAFETY KIT: Shovel, avalanche probe and avalanche beacon are lent to each participant for the week, must be worn under your jacket and turned on at all times while skiing. If you have your own, bring it! EXTRAS RESCUE INSURANCE: Compulsory for all trips in Europe, even those that only ski at the resorts, for mountain rescue, assistance, transportation to nearest hospital, etc. TRIP INSURANCE (Check your credit card policy): May be subscribed privately for cancellation before the trip or interruption due to accident and repatriation. Highly recommended, as all subsisting costs will be charged in case of absence. Payment by credit card, Visa Premier or Gold MasterCard, may provide cancellation insurance. Check your contract. LUNCH & DRINKS: Often group members will pool their money for lunch and wine at the dinner table. Lunchs are often picnics on the mountain when sunny, enhanced by specialities brought by the participants to be shared. Or home cooking in mountain, but when the weather is bad it is very nice to stop on a small dry and warm hut for a traditional meal. Guide lunch is to be offered by the participants.

8 SINGLE ROOMS (25 per day): Extra privacy each night for individuals traveling alone who would like extra space. WIDE SKIS W/ TOURING BINDINGS (25 per day) : For the ultimate fun factor, we'll get you set up on a great pair of powder skis with touring bindings and skins. You may use your own alpine ski boots with these bindings. AVALANCHE AIR BAG RUCKSACK: (15 per day): 30 years of research and development have made the ABS airbag system what it is today. A sophisticated and proven system that aims to prevent burial in an avalanche and help victims pulled along by the snow mass to come out as unharmed as possible. ABS backpacks are recognized worldwide. TRANSPORTATION FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL (From 150 per person). From/To Milano, or Innsbruck airport. For groups, we can send a taxi or a minibus to take you directly from the airport to the hotel. Reserve in advance. AIRLINE TICKETS: Domestic and international flights.? GROUP EQUIPMENT (PROVIDED BY 9V) SAFETY KIT: Including shovel, avalanche probe and avalanche beeper: Must be worn by each participant at all times off-piste. If you have your own, please bring it. Indicate whether or not on booking form. SAFETY AND RESCUE EQUIPMENT: Each guide will have all that is necessary for the safety of his group in his rucksack : radio or mobile phone, first aid kit, tools for repair, space blanket, rope, shovel, avalanche probe...). The guide may ask you to carry such equipment in your rucksack. If you are an experienced mountaineer with your own equipment, bring it with you. WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING

9 TOURING SKIS: 9V guides use and recommend wide skis that make all kinds of deep snow fun, allow you to carve on piste and on any hard snow, are light enough to use with touring bindings to go uphill with skins in order to guarantee access to untracked snow. BAGGAGE: Make sure that your bagage is practical, quickly packed and easy to carry. SMALL RUCKSACK for daily necessities. 32 liters will be a good choice. Inside your pack you should have: -Goggles with double anti-fog screen orange for bad weather and mirror lens for sun. -Scarf or neck-warmer to protect against wind, cold, sun or powder. -Sun screen for lips and face (high protection). -Pocket knife for picnics. -Foil Blanket in case of accident (or even chair lift breakdowns). -Spare glove if you fall often! -Beverages, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, muësli bars... -Shovel and probe. If you have your own, bring them. Your guide may give you such equipment to carry on. -Optional: Camera, video or binoculars. CLOTHING: Remember that most of your time will be spent in ski wear. At any time of the season, weather can be sunny and warm, or bitterly cold, windy, snowy or rainy. If properly equipped, you'll enjoy the skiing, whatever the weather. We ski in all conditions. Bring bad weather gear with you, as during major snowstorms we ski fantastic powder in the forest. Plan to have extra clothing and gear in your rucksack each day, which will enable you to adapt to all changes in temperature and weather. Temperature varies with altitude about 10 C. per 1000 mts. Therefore, the difference in temperature between the valley and the summits will be about 20 C., and even more considering wind chill factor. SPECIALITIES FOR THE GRAND 9V BUFFET : On Sunday, lunch will be made up of all the specialities brought by the participants, from the homeland or elsewhere. All will be spread out on a table to share. They must be transportable in your rucksack and edible without cooking or drinkable. This lunch will be one of the finest meals you can imagine. HOW TO REACH HOTEL BELLEVUE I LA SELVA VAL GARDENA, ITALY BY CAR: coming from the North or South, take Autostrada exit Klausen-Chiusa, direction Val Gardena. In Selva/Wolkenstein, turn left at Hotel Alpenroyal and follow Via Dauneï to Hotel Bellevue, on your left.

10 BY PLANE: Milano or Munich are the important international airports around. You could also fly to Innsbruck, Verone or Bolzano and then take the train. BY TRAIN: The express trains take you to Bolzano or Bressannone. From either of these stations, depending whether you are coming from the North or the South, you get the bus to Selva-Val Gardena, as above.
