INTRODUCTION TO SNOWMOBILING (10:00-11:00 and 15:00-16:00) Tue, Thu & Sat Would you like to try snowmobiling for the first time, but are not sure if you are up to it? Then this is the safari for you! During this Safari your guide will teach you on how to handle the snowmobile and you will make a short drive to get used to the machine. Specially adjusted snowmobiles will be used, making the driving easier and safer for first timers. After this experience, you will be ready for longer safaris! TWO COUNTRIES SAFARI ON THE GULF OF BOTHNIA (09:00-12:00) (Valid from 27 th Dec) Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun Frozen arctic sea uniting two Nordic countries. On this safari you will steer the snowmobile towards the frozen sea and Swedish border. Admire the islands, vast ice fields and toast warm juice for crossing the border of Sweden and Finland. ICE-FISHING EXPERIENCE ON SNOWMOBILES (12:00-14:30) Tue, Thu & Sat Snowmobile safari to the icy field of the Gulf of Bothnia. Try your luck at traditional ice fishing and, with any fish fortune, learn how to prepare your catch on an open fire. 2 4. WHITE SILENCE ON SNOWSHOES (15:00-17:00) Mon, Wed & Fri Capture the true feeling of the arctic in the northern woods and icy fields. After a short snowmobile sleigh ride your snowshoe adventure through the picturesque snowy scenery may start. You ll experience the silence and beauty of wintery forests on this guided snowshoe hike. Have a break and enjoy some snacks while the only sound you ll hear is the sough of the forest. NOTE: This safari is suitable for children of 12 or older. FATBIKE SAFARI (13:00-16:00) (Valid from 19 th Jan) Mon, Thu & Sat Fatbike adventure on the frozen sea ice and in the alluring archipelago. Fatbikes are equipped with wide tyres that provide a smooth and well-balanced ride in snowy conditions. This enjoyable and relaxing bike trip takes you to the frozen sea and nature on the Gulf of Bothnia. While grilling sausages and enjoying hot beverages by the camp fire, you ll hear stories of the local nature and life in Lapland. NOTE: This excursion requires basic knowledge of cycling and is suitable for children of 15 and older. DURATION: 3 hours PRICES: per season / adult 76 / adult 6. OLOKOLO - LUXURY RIDE (14:00-15:30) Every day (except Sunday) Hop on the glass-roofed Olokolo sleigh, pulled by a snowmobile. Experience the Arctic Sea dotted with charming islands, offering a great opportunity to spot local wild life, such as Sea Eagles or Elks. Nestled in the warm comfort of the Olokolo, you can observe the everchanging shades of the sky above, surrounded by the beauty of the nature outside, while enjoying some warm drinks and refreshments. 3 7. GUIDED TOUR AT THE SNOWCASTLE (11:00-11:45 & 17:00-17:45) (Valid from 20 th Jan) Every day Guided tour of the Castle will lead you to the world of professional ice and snow building. Your will learn how the Castle has been constructed, about the many venues in the Castle, and what is happening inside the snowy walls. IN THE HEART OF NATURE (10:00-16:00) (Valid from 27 th Dec) Wed & Sat Enjoy the great outdoors on this wilderness snowmobile safari to the heart of nature. The trail traverses open ice fields on the frozen sea and narrow paths in the forest before coming to the first stop, where you have the chance to try snowshoe walking in the snowcovered forest. At the second stop you will have a chance to do some ice-fishing while your guide prepares an outdoor lunch for you by an open fire. The weather in Lapland can change quickly ranging from cold, blizzard conditions to sunshine over crisp and fresh snow the snowmobile route may change accordingly. AURORA BOREALIS SAFARI BY SNOWMOBILES (20:00 22:00) (Not operated in April) Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun Experience the Arctic night by driving through the snow-covered forest and on the frozen sea. With a little luck, you ll travel under a bright sky lit by the moon and the stars. Perhaps the Aurora Borealis the Northern Lights will appear to show you the way. 4 10. ARCTIC ISLAND AURORA CAMP (19:30 22:00) (Valid from 27 th Dec, not operated in April) Tue, Thu & Sat When the night falls, the Aurora night starts. At the Arctic Adventure island, you will find an Aurora Borealis film presenting the myths and facts of this natural phenomenon along with spectacular photos of the Northern lights. You will also have time to roam around the campsite, fry sausages by the open fire and best of all, take a comfortable ride in Olokolo nests drawn by the snowmobile on the arctic sea. Remember to bring your camera! With a little luck the sky is clear and the moon, stars and even the Northern Lights may show up. Your guide will have tips on how to catch the Auroras with your camera and also tripods are available! ARCTIC ISLAND HOPPING (9:00-12:00) (Valid from 27 th Dec) Tue, Thu & Sat Explore the Arctic archipelago nearby the city of Kemi by skiing from an island to another. You will be transported with snowmobile drawn sleigh to Arctic Adventure Island where you will get yourself on skis that are made for exploring the wintery woods. This will certainly be an adventure to remember! After skiing adventure, you can enjoy Finnish sausages by open fire on the Island. Return to the city with the snowmobile drawn sleigh. 5 (11:30-14:30) Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun An incredible chance to control a team of huskies yourself! Experience the complete silence of the Arctic nature around you. Ride a husky sledge through the untouched wintery woods. During the break listen to the musher s stories of the nature in the region, of huskies, their life and training. The car transfer to the Husky Farm goes through the beautiful countryside and you will get a glimpse of the local life and landscapes. 2 people will share a sled, changing the driver half way. REINDEER SAFARI (13:30-16:30) Tue, Thu & Sat It s time to meet the reindeer herder and learn facts about traditional reindeer husbandry. Enjoy a brisk 1,5 km reindeer sleigh ride and test your skills in suopunki, the reindeer lasso throwing. Afterwards coffee will be brewed over open fire and served with homemade cookies. BLUE MOMENT CRUISE & SNOWMOBILE - ICEBREAKER SAFARI ( ) (Valid from 27 th Dec) Every day Book a snowmobile safari to the Icebreaker Sampo, and experience the Arctic freedom at its fullest! After changing into appropriate safari gear, the journey towards the Sampo, waiting for you in the middle of the frozen Gulf of Bothnia, may begin. Reaching the spectacular vessel, you will leave your snowmobile on the ice, climb aboard the Icebreaker, to enjoy the full cruise with lunch, tour of the vessel and swimming in survival suits. After the swimming event, you will get off the board to continue driving the snowmobile back to the safari house. Snowmobiles: child price entitles children to a seat in a sled pulled by a snowmobile driven by the guide. Children over 140 cm in height are allowed to sit on the snowmobile behind an adult, when paying the adult price. Snowshoe and skiing excursions can be physically demanding and are therefore not suitable for children under 12 years unless program is especially designed for children.

7 Children of 3 years and younger can participate in safaris free of charge, but please note that not all safaris are suitable for young children. Note that children under 2 years are not recommended to take part on snowmobile safaris. Lapland Safaris SL LTD reserves the right to deny the participation of small children due to safety reasons (e.g. demanding weather or trail conditions). SAFARI PRICES INCLUDE: All safaris include pick-up from and drop-off to your hotel / accommodation in Kemi city area or Meeting Point in Tornio/Haparanda, thermal outfit and guide services in English. In additional snowmobile safaris include each snowmobile shared by two guests taking turns in driving, fuel, traffic insurance (maximum personal liability 980), maintenance and VAT. The driver of a snowmobile has to be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver s licence. Note: Self liability can be reduced to 150 by paying waiver supplement 15 per driver per safari. Solo driving possibility. As a responsible safari organiser, Lapland Safaris SL Ltd reserves the right to change the routing, pricing and the duration of the excursions without prior notice. Lapland Safaris SL Ltd reserves the right to interrupt a safari if a participant is seen as a potential danger to him/herself or to others or is in poor health. Prepaid safaris will not be refunded. The driver of the snowmobile is held liable for damages caused to the vehicle. Maximum personal liability 980 per person/snowmobile/accident case. NOTE: Our programs, especially snowshoe, skiing, snowmobile, husky and reindeer excursions can be physically demanding and participants may be exposed to different kinds of physical strain, vibration or carbon monoxide (in case of snowmobiling). Therefore, in order to avoid any complications and to guarantee the safety of all participants, we do not recommend husky, reindeer and snowmobile programs to pregnant women. If the programme requires special arrangements (e.g. additional transport), the extra costs will not be covered by Lapland Safaris SL Ltd.
