2 DESIGN CONCEPT Aston Hotels are ideal for city or resort locations and offer modern, luxurious rooms and suites, imaginatively designed with a modern sophistication and contemporary style. Aston Hotels are welcoming and practical, offering an exceptional combination of style and function - outfitted for a luxurious escape, but equipped to please the most discerning traveler. Aston Hotels are typically 150 to 300 rooms in size and have the usual facilities and services one would normally expect to find in a 4 & 5 star hotel such as a coffee shop, meeting rooms, ballroom, parking space as well as a spa and gym. A normal 150 room Aston would cost between USD50,000 and USD80,000 per room bay. Design time usually takes two to three months and following one or two months of bidding, from ground breaking to soft opening day can normally be done in around one year.

18 MEETING ROOMS Consideration must be given when designing for successful meetings. Approximately 150sqm in size with a rectangular shape is required to allow for several arrangements and efficient circulation. Small alcoves are good places to provide refreshments and for acoustic use. Use soundproof, removable padded partitions to divide the rooms for smaller meetings. The table below gives an indication of capacities showing the square meter size required per attendee;

19 MEETING ROOMS Aston Jember Aston Madiun Meeting rooms are important facilities for Aston Hotels. Three 100sqm meeting rooms are a minimum requirement but the more meeting rooms the better. A simple yet modern contemporary design with interesting touches and a good flexible lighting system are ideal.

24 ROOM CORRIDORS Corridors need to be minimum 1500mm wide and 2200mm height up to ceiling. The wall covering should be wallpaper or washable wall paint. The ceiling should be covered with painted gypsum board or equal, in order to cover the pipes & cables. Flooring should be carpet/carpet tile, except for the semi-outdoor corridor, which can be a nonslip homogenous tile. Skirting should be plywood finished with light grey duco paint. The lighting could be recessed down light in the middle, or could be wall mounted. There should be one lamp in front of each door and shaft. It is preferable to have a window and opening at the end of each corridor to maximize natural light and fresh air into the building.

41 GYM & SPA A gym and spa are normally recommended. These may range in size from 30sqm to 800sqm. Larger ones may be outsourced in conjunction with or without the spa.

42 SWIMMING POOL Swimming pools can be located on the rooftop or on the podium. Resort hotel swimming pools can be placed on the ground with a more playful design (lagoon type). Adult pools must be 1.4m deep and kids pools must be 60cm deep they must have a 4m separation.

44 BACK OF HOUSE BOH space is for areas such as MEP, workshop, stores and offices. Use white ceramic tiles for the floor, gypsum for the walls (except in wet areas) and brick wall for the cashier s room. All walls must be equipped with skirting tiles of around 10cm and finished with washable paint. The ceilings may be exposed and painted in most areas. GM s and sales offices should be dropped ceilings with a nice finish.

45 KITCHENS GENERAL 150sqm kitchen for standard 150 rooms and 3 meeting rooms hotel. Provide an open or glassed in kitchen in the restaurant to create a more intimate feeling. A separate pastry kitchen/bakery is required.
