1 PROBUS ALL- IRELAND RALLY 2017 February 2017 Dear Secretary The Probus Clubs of Omagh invite you and your members to the All-Ireland Probus Rally in the Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh, Co. Tyrone. Your support and that of your Probus friends will ensure that the 2017 Rally is enjoyable, successful and memorable. On Wednesday 17 th May Registration Desks will be open from 2.00 pm. Afternoon snacks and evening meals on Wednesday are not included in the delegate fee, but are available in the hotel. At 7.00 pm there will be a drinks reception for all delegates and accompanying guests hosted by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. This will be followed by a concert with time afterwards to meet old friends and make new ones. On Thursday 18 th May the Reception Desks will open at 09.00am. Complimentary Tea / coffee will be available until am at which time delegates will be requested to take their seats in the Drumragh Suite for a prompt start at am. Seating Plans will be on display and luncheon menus will be on each table. Catering staff will be on hand to assist delegates with their choices and take orders. Space has been provided on the Registration Form for those special dietary requests to let us know in advance how best to prepare for their visit. For accompanying guests on Thursday there will be a morning visit to the award-winning Ulster- American Folk Park. The coach will depart from the hotel at am and guests will be accompanied by two Omagh Probians with lots of local knowledge. Lunch will be in Newtownstewart Golf Club where the carvery will hopefully suit and satisfy everyone. The return coach trip to Omagh is via a scenic route through the Sperrin Mountains, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Delegates and Guests are expected to book and pay for their own accommodation To make a booking telephone the hotel, state that you wish to book for the Probus Rally and quote booking reference number Reservations cannot be made on-line because the computer will tell you the hotel is fully booked. It is because all rooms have been reserved for the Rally. There is a special rate for the Rally and the Hotel is offering a variety of packages to suit those who wish to extend their stay. Delegates and guests seeking alternative accommodation or who prefer B & B s may wish to consider some of the options listed over page. Their location is shown on a map on the website from which there are hyperlinks to their websites. Delegates and guests arriving by public transport, and not staying in the Silverbirch Hotel, will have free transfers to and from their accommodation throughout their stay for all Rally events on Wednesday and Thursday. 7 Venue: Silverbirch Hotel, 5 Gortin Road, Omagh, BT79 7DH Public Transport Travel Notes for Delegates and Guests 1. Omagh does not have a railway station, however it is well served by buses. Bus timetables can be found on the websites of Ulsterbus / Translink and Bus Eireann 2. Delegates and guests arriving by bus will be met at Omagh bus depot by members of the local Probus Clubs. A shuttle service provided by club members will operate between the bus depot and the rally venue. Please note that the shuttle service will only operate on Wednesday afternoon between 2.00 pm and 5.30 pm. and on Thursday morning between am and am. Those who arrive outside these times are requested to take a taxi. There is a taxi rank at the bus depot. The rally venue is less than half a mile from the depot and transfers take only a few minutes. Alternatively, if the weather is fine, the hotel is a comfortable 10 minute walk away. 3. On arrival at the hotel delegates and guests will be met by members of the Transport Team. Arrangements are in place to take those not staying in the Silverbirch Hotel to their accommodation and transport them to and from the rally venue throughout their stay, and to the bus depot on departure. Own Transport 1. Delegates and Guests travelling to the Rally by car should have little difficulty in finding the venue. For those with Sat. Nav. the address is as shown above. 2. For those with road maps, Omagh is well signposted and within the town signage for the B48 to Gortin is clear. 3. The Hotel is on the right on the way out of town, half-mile from the town centre. It is plainly visible from the road. 4. Delegates and guests with their own transport are requested to make their own way to and from the Rally venue. Members of the Transport Team will be on hand throughout the Rally, to assist delegates and guests with any transport issues which may arise. The contact telephone number for the Transport Team is
