3 HISTORY Palais Schönburg was built by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt between 1700 and 1706 on behalf of Earl Gundanker Starhemberg. In 1841 the Royal Schönburg-Hartenstein family purchased the property. During the twentieth century, on account of its remarkable acoustics, world famous musicians including Leonard Bernstein, Nikolaus Harmoncourt, Alfred Brendel, The Vienna Concert House Quartet and many more chose to perform and record here. The current owners, Gertner Immobilien, have extensively renovated both Palais Schönburg and its gardens. This stunning room is an outstanding venue for Gala Dinners, Conferences, Weddings, Concerts, etc. Red Salons On both sides of the Ballroom are glorious Red Salons which can be added as an extension for larger parties. Library The historic library is perfect for that intimate Wedding Ceremony or for smaller Conference Meetings, Film-shoots, Recordings and much more. Lounge On the lower level, with access to the gardens, this modern room is ideal for a DJ, a Bar, a Reception or a Smoking Lounge. Grand Entrance Hall With its nine metre high vestibule and two sweeping staircases leading up to the main rooms, the Grand Entrance Hall cannot fail to impress. Kamin Rooms Two elegant and cosy rooms, each with a magnificent antique stove, are wonderful as a Lounge, Buffet area or Bar.
