2 WELCOME AND MANSIONS ON THE MISSISSIPPI Burton-Rosenmeier Home Little Falls was established in 1848 on the Mississippi River. The dam was built in 1848 and provided a power source for several lumber, flour, and paper mills along the river. If you visit modern Little Falls, the history-focused walking and driving tour are a fabulous way to step back in time. You must tour Linden Hill Mansions (1898) and the Burton-Rosenmeier Home (1903), Cass Gilbert Train Depot (1899) and the St. Francis Convent (1890) all are historic hot spots. They give step back in time new meaning. We are home to Charles A. Lindbergh House & Museum and State Park, and both are located on the Mississippi River just down the road from the Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Museum. We are also home to the MN Fishing Museum and Hall of Fame, as well as Pine Grove Zoo (delighting animal lovers for more than 100 years). Want to get the up north feel and see the secrets we want to share? Just five miles up the road is Camp Ripley, the second-largest Army National Guard post in the United States. It is home to the Minnesota Military Museum, which has artifacts dating back to the Civil War, both indoor and outdoor exhibits, and a beautiful location on the Mississippi River. The Visitors Bureau will help plan your adventure (and throw in a tour of its home, the Burton-Rosenmeier mansion) for your unforgettable visit. Charles A. Lindbergh House & Museum
3 TAKE A RIDE If you EXPLORE LITTLE FALLS you will find these bike racks at historic locations, parks, and family-friendly spots. Check out the Charmed Bicycle Ride scavenger hunt every summer from June 1 until early August. Collect the free charms from over 13 business locations in Little Falls at your leisure. Charmed Bicycle Ride Maps are at the Little Falls Visitors Bureau and the Carnegie Library. Great family fun, or send the kids out and let them explore. BIKE RACKS A.T. 6 TURNING ART INSIDE OUT EXTERIOR BENCHES & Trunks (A Tribute to the Logging Industry) Stainless steel, rivets, ash logs, and steel Heidi Jeub Trunks, a sculpture and communal bench, makes an abstract connection between the lumber industry & other industries that resulted, such as clothing for lumberjacks (Burton). These stainless steel benches are meant to resemble the steamer trunks used by immigrants and world travelers that many families keep as heirlooms today. The trunks are from fallen ash trees of Foley, Minnesota. Trunks invites us to admire the natural beauty, industrious history, and open opportunity for Little Falls.
