1 Here is the summary of my tour of Turkey at April Turkey Turkey is a country that her territory including both Asia and Europe. Sunni Islam is the main religion in Turkey. Istanbul (former as Constantinople) is located in Turkey, which is capital of many historical empires such as Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire and Ottoman Empire. Turkey - Istanbul Istanbul (former as Constantinople) is main city of Turkey. Istanbul is the capital of Eastern Roman Empire/Byzantine Empire. Istanbul is the foundation of Orthodox Church. Hagia Sophia was former Christian Church, former Greek Orthodox patriarchal basilica, former Roman Catholic Cathedral and former imperial mosque. 3 Turkey Istanbul Sultan Ahmed Mosque Sultan Ahmed Mosque (or Blue Mosque) is a historic mosque. Interior of mosque contains big columns and stained glasses. Turkey Istanbul Hippodrome of Constantinople Hippodrome of Constantinople was a circus for sporting and social centre during Byzantine Empire.
