At OTA, we attempt to give all major holidays off (Jewish High Holidays, Christmas/Easter, Eid ) Many of our teachers and students are busy celebrating during this time. We will explore the timeline, history and people of the time allowing students to create a vivid picture of life in the ancient world. Parent have the option of taking one semester or two semesters or enroll in the entire year. Fall - Ancient World: Egypt Winter Ancient World: Greece Spring Ancient World: Rome Full Year of Ancient World Early Civilizations, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome Class Approach: This class is a combination of lecture, video clips as well as discussion. Textbook: The Usborne Internet Linked Encyclopedia of the Ancient World Additional readings and video clips to be provided by instructor. Additional Supplies/Resources Needed: Notebook Microphone Camera (Smart Phone Camera is absolutely fine) Requirements: Students will be expected to interact in class. Students will be required to complete assignments in a timely manner. Students need to respect each other. ly Homework: Every week there will be a combination of reading, viewing of video clips as well as writing. You can expect about 1-2 hours of homework weekly.

4 Homework Policy: Homework will be due prior to class for students to receive full credit unless arrangements have been made in advance. Students will receive partial credit for homework submitted within two class periods of due date. No credit will be given for homework turned in after two weeks. Additionally, any outstanding homework needs to be turned in prior to any unit test, even if that is sooner than the two weeks.
