2 SPLIT Split is a city in Central Dalmatia, Croatia, and the seat of the Split-Dalmatia county. The city was originally built around the Diocletian palace (a palace/fort built for the retired Roman emperor Diocletian) where the locals sought refuge centuries ago. Wandering the historic centre of Split you can still clearly see the Roman walls, squares, and temples. Central Split is quite compact and most sights can be easily seen and best experienced on foot, but there are frequent local buses to outlying attractions and the airport. SOLTA Solta is the island of olives, wine, figs and honey an oasis just 9 nm away from Split, ideal for sailboat guests, families and all those looking for a stress relief holiday. MILNA In Milna, used to live only few families dedicated to growing grapes. Milna bay served as a safe bay for their wooden fishing boats (called leut), so vital to Dalmatian coast inhabitants during many centuries. Now, instead of old wooden boats, fishing nets and

3 fishermen, Milna bay is a favorite destination of vacationers who searches for peaceful ambiance, far from the mainstream tourist destinations. Visitors to Milna bay have a privilege to enjoy in two lovely sandy beaches: Milna bay sandy beach and Zaglav. As Milna became more known, new vacation houses were built in the bay itself, but also in direction to Zenka bay, located next to the Milna bay. UVALA LUKA Uvala Luka is a large bay on the northern coast of Brać. The name means bay harbor (or the harbor bay ). In the east end the small hamlet of Povlja is situated, and in the west end you will find a series of small, protected bays and a couple of restaurants with buoys and piers. TROGIR Trogir is a jewel of a town encased in 15th-century walls. Tiny medieval streets wind through the enchanting town revealing hidden restaurants and eye-catching galleries. A wide seaside promenade snakes around the town, culminating in a charming port full of sailboats waiting to take you to the islands of Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli with their pristine sand beaches and secluded coves. Stretching out from the main land of Trogir to either side is an infinite number of beautiful beaches as well. A pleasing blend of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture, Trogir boasts a spectacular Venetian Cathedral of St. Lovro, a 15th-century town hall, the Church of St. John the Baptist with

4 its gorgeous carved portal. Trogir is a delightful little town that is conveniently located to explore Central Dalmatia. STARIGRAD Stari Grad (Pharos) is the oldest town incroatia. The same year b.c. when greek philoshoper Aristotel was born in Trakia, the greeks from the island of Paros in Agean sea have settled the town on the island of Hvar, and named it Pharos. Stari Grad (eng. "old town") is historical heart of the island of Hvar. The town is situated in a landscape where the blue of the deep bay touches the green of the wide an famous field of Pharos, with vineyards and olive-groves. The fields used to provide sustenance and the bay provided protection. Today, both the fields and the bay add an attractive quality to the island, in which the modern vacation sights have become intertwined with the antiquities of the town and of the island. HVAR The city of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic. An independent commune within the Venetian Empire during the 13th to 18th centuries, it was an important naval base with a strong fortress above, encircling town walls and protected port. Cultural life thrived as prosperity grew, and Hvar is the site of one of the oldest surviving theatres in Europe, opened in The seven-

5 century old walls still survive, as do many of the noble houses and public buildings from 15th - 17th centuries. VIS Island Vis - the outmost major island of the Dalmatian archipelago, emerging from the crystal clear blue sea, 50 km away from the Croatian and 150 km from the Italian coast, surrounded by small islands and islets is an agreable and quiet place for your summer vacation. The island of Vis, one of the first centres of civilization in this part of the Mediterranean, is also rich in ancient sites and ruins originating from the Illyrians, Greeks and Romans, the predecessors of the Croats who began colonizing the island in the 8th century AD. On the opposite sides of the island, around two big, natural bays are situated two small towns Vis and Komiža. KORCULA The island of Korcula is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic Sea, with abundant vineyards and olive groves. Its southern coast is formed by small beaches and quiet coves. The Greeks, called the island Korkyra, Melaina or "black Corfu, all adjectives to define the wooded area.the main city of the island Korcula has the same name. At the town of Korcula remains the essence of market town, with its mix of culture and its

6 thick walls reminiscent of Dubrovnik. The city of Korkula appears as a typical medieval Dalmatian town, with towers and defense red-roofed houses. They say that Marco Polo was born here ( ), the wayward traveler to China, and Mongolia. And in fact the museum is one of the many cultural centers that Korcula offers to its visitors. In addition, since Korcula is bound to medieval battles, they preserved the tradition of chivalry dances held throughout the island. Korcula visitors will find here villages isolated of the time, places where you can breathe peace, green fields and small houses surrounded by nature, certainly a relaxing place to plan your short trip or family vacations. MLJET Mljet is well known for its white and red wine, olives and goat's cheese. Mljet is indeed s unspoilt island that is covered by a dense Mediterranean forest. The sea round the island is rich in fish and marine life. Mljet is also well known for it's two salted lakes, Velico and Malo Jezero that are located at the north end of the island. On small island in the middle of Veliko Jezero lake, there is old Benedictine monastery. Beside beach Saplunara (on the south of the island), Veliko and Malo Jezero are favorite swimming spots for locals and visitors alike. Northern part of the island of Mljet is also one of Croatian National Parks, and is therefore, one of the favorite destinations for travellers.

7 DUBROVNIK Today Dubrovnik is the proudest feather in Croatia's tourist cap, an elite destination and one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean. Dubrovnik used to be an independent republic, surviving mostly on trade. It managed to survive many centuries, with constant threats to its territory, particularly from the mighty Ottoman Empire and Venice. As early as 19th century, it was discovered by celebrities as a place to be seen. George Bernard Shaw once said that "those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik and find it". Royalty, presidents and diplomats have all favored the city. The late Pope John Paul II was a fan of Dubrovnik and was even made an honorary citizen. Out of the 23 top luxury hotels in Croatia in 2010, 12 were located in Dubrovnik. It is steeped in stunning architecture and sculptural detail, and boasts spectacular churches, monasteries, museums, and fountains.
