2 Day trip Tuesday 7 th June :45 Meet at the campsite, coach departs 09:00 10:00 Meet at Airbus St Nazaire for a visit to the Airbus factory Travels on the sea, travels in the air: for several decades, Saint-Nazaire has been famous not only for ships but also for the planes which are built here. Flying boats in the 1930 s, followed by propeller planes, and finally, starting in 1970, Airbus planes. Visit the Airbus factory and see a whole new side of planes. You ll have the privilege of walking through the vast workshops where fuselage sections of all the different Airbus planes, including the huge A380, are being assembled and equipped. Guided tour, 2 hours. Passport required for the visit. 12:30 Lunch at a restaurant near St Nazaire Menu 3 courses : starter, main course, dessert, apéritif, ¼ wine per person and coffee. 14:00 Meet at Escal'Atlantic for a visit to Escal'Atlantic A fascinating journey awaits you at Escal Atlantic, inside the submarine pens. Cross the threshold or rather the huff of a transatlantic liner and come aboard! The story of ocean liners unfolds along 25 display areas which evoke the interiors of a liner, both the public spaces and the hidden corners. Walk in the footsteps of yesterday s travellers, 1st-class passengers or emigrants travelling in steerage, and see the beautiful collections from legendary liners. When you lounge in a deckchair, take a break in the bar or imagine yourself at the captain s table in the dining room, you will know that this is a journey like no other. Self-guided tour of 2 hours.

At the tip of the Nez de Chien fort, at "the lateral limit of the ocean" (the border where the river and ocean meet), Huang Yong Ping's (1954, China) skeleton of an enormous sea-serpent surges out of the sea, as if it had just been found in an archaeological dig. Its movement makes it look alive: with its disproportionate body, one imagines that it crossed the seven seas before washing up on this beach. The shape of its spine echoes the curve of the Saint-Nazaire bridge, and the way it sits is reminiscent of the architecture of les carrelets, the distinctive off-shore fisheries on the Atlantic coast. By having a major figure from Chinese mythology appear on European shores, Huang Yong Ping examines, the notions of identity and cultural hybridity, as is often the case in his work. The environmental question is also very present in his art where he regularly exposes the paradox of the man sawing the branch he is sitting on, torn between creative abilities and destructive impulses. This is one of the many possible interpretations of this work: placed on the beach, the skeleton appears with the tide and, little by little, will be home to marine fauna and flora. Return to the campsite by coach about 17H30 / 18h00 Day trip Thursday 9 th June :30 Meet at the campsite, coach departs 08:45 10:00 Meet at Machines de L'Ile Nantes During your visit, the machinists will explain the history and workings of these strange creatures and breathe life into the imaginary world of the Arbre aux Hérons. A heron with a 8-metre (26-foot) wingspan, with passengers in tow, flies over the large-scale model of the Arbre aux Hérons planted in the middle of the Gallery. Real plants grow next to mechanical ones, and if you are lucky you might be asked to control the treetop animals. From the very first sketches to fully functioning machines, the entire creative process is on display in this gallery/laboratory. It shows the construction of the Grand Éléphant, of the Carrousel des Mondes Marins and the ongoing research being done for the Arbre aux Hérons, Les Machines de l île s major project. The Galerie is like a performance area where each individual machine puts on a mini-show.

4 Discover the Carrousel des Mondes Marins Located on the banks of the Loire river, across from the Musée Jules Verne, the Carrousel des Mondes Marins seems to have been born in the belly of Île de Nantes, the city s most maritime spot. It is an incredible mechanical aquarium that visitors discover at their own place. This authentic 360 theatre is also an incredible sculpture dedicated to the sea. Visitors watch as strange and disturbing marine creatures revolve in a huge structure built on three levels. You will discover the sea like never before, from sea bed to the surface. This giant carousel, almost 25 m (82 ft.) high and 22 m (72 ft.) in diameter, is a reinvention of fairground art. Three carousels are stacked in concrete lacework, crowned by a Big Top that is itself adorned with pediments, and guarded by 16 fishermen from all the world s oceans. Also in this visit: Discover the workshops, the film and the visit of the Branche prototype. 11:45 and 12:30 Trip on The Elephant (max 30 people per trip) When this majestic animal goes out for a walk, it is like architecture in motion leaving a steel cathedral. 30 passengers embark on an amazing journey. Once aboard, you will see the moving gears that power the legs. A machinist will tell you stories about the elephant and have it blast its trunk for your pleasure. Being on the back of the Grand Éléphant is like being on the 4th floor of a travelling house, with a breathtaking view of the former shipyards. The Grand Éléphant makes the connection between the Carrousel des Mondes Marins and the Warehouses where the workshop and the Galerie des Machines, centre of the artistic proposal of the Machines de l île, are located. The last castle before the river reaches the sea, this Breton monument with its outstanding buildings take you from the 15th to 17th centuries. Building started under François 2nd, the last duke of Brittany, and then completed by his daughter, Anne of Brittany, twice queen of France. The castle houses a royal palace of elegant renaissance facades and ornate outward facing galleries or loggia. Large scale restoration gives way to a modern multimedia exhibition in its museum, open to visitors on a castle tour. The courtyard, full circuit of the battlements, the gardens around the moat, all lit-up at night make it an unforgettable experience for all the family. Guided tour, 2 hours. Return to the camp site by coach about 18:30 18:45 Day trip Friday 9 th June :00 Meet at the Fromagerie Le Cure Nantaise for a trip around the factory "100 years of history": a craft visit in order to learn about the cheese making, that will be followed by a tasting. At the end of the 19th century began the history of this cheese "Le Curé Nantais" in a little town near the edges of Loire: St Julien de Concelles. The meeting between a farmer (Pierre Hivert) and an ecclesiastic gave birth to a cheese called "Treat of Gourmets". It's only later that this cheese became "Le Curé Nantais" in homage to this holy man. The cheese dairy still remained in St Julien de Concelles during 4 generations; it won competitions and medals that allowed the cheese to be famous and became a jewel of gastronomy. 100 years later, Georges Parola, a passionate creamer, decided to buy back this little cheese dairy in order to carry on the tradition. Georges Parola worked a lot, and wanted to develop the cheese dairy little by little. Nowadays, the workshop has been modernized but the methods are the same. The Curé Nantais is made only with fresh milk from the morning milking. Made in the traditional copper vats, the production does not exceed 2,600 cheeses a day: Nowadays, the team of Le Curé Nantais will be pleased to make a visit of the cheese making, followed by a tasting session in the pleasant shop that offers a wide range of regional products: cheeses, wines and local grocery products. The final rally meal will be at the camp site also on this day.

6 RALLY PROGRAMMME 2016 Camping La Tabardiere, La Pleine sur Mer. Possible directions. From Rennes follow N137 direction Nantes. After Nozay take the N171 direction St Nazaire. From Ste Nazaire take the D213 over the bridge and follow the signs for Pornic. Exit on your right at Ste- Marie-Sur-Mer and follow the signs for the campsite. It is also possible to reach the campsite from Nantes avoiding the bridge at Ste Nazaire GPS co-ordinates for the campsite are N : W Just a word of advice when you arrive at the campsite please walk up to your allocated pitch to see which direction is best to get on to it. These pitches have been allocated by the campsite according to your arrival date. Good luck!
