3 15:30 Panoramic City Tour of Paris L Arc de Triomphe The world s most famous Triumphal arch was built by Napoleon in 1805 after his victory in the battle of Austerlitz. Champs Elysées The capital s most famous thoroughfare and the setting for the victory parades following the two World Wars.

4 Rue de Rivoli This street completes the link between the Louvre and Champs Elysees and is famous for its long arcades with a variety of shops ranging from designer to high street brands.

5 Louvre Museum Containing one of the most famous art collections in the world including Da Vinci s Mona Lisa, the Louvre has a history extending back to medieval times.

6 Ile de La Cite The boat shaped Island is the oldest part of the city of Paris and remains of the first buildings can still be seen in the Archaeological crypt under the square in front of Notre Dame. Notre Dame Cathedral Notre Dame stands majestically on the Ile de La Cite. The Cathedral is a Gothic masterpiece and a superb example of French Medieval architecture.

7 Conciergerie During the Revolution this building with its distinctive towers became notorious as a prison.

8 18.00 Bateau Mouche 1hr 15mins This boat operates along the main sightseeing reaches of the river, taking in many of the city s famous monuments, there is a recorded commentary during the cruise on the main places of interest which you will see along the banks of the Seine.

9 19.20 Hotel check-in Please note that a cautionary deposit of 10 per person must be paid by all members of the group upon check-in. This deposit will be collected by group leaders at the airport on the day of departure & refunded before we leave the hotel on the day of departure in the event that no damage is caused to hotel property. It is a further condition that there is no excessive noise by the group during the stay at the hotel.

11 Exploration of Montmartre afterwards. Climb the steps or take the funicular train to the top of the hill to see the beautiful white-domed basilica of the Sacré Coeur. Visit the nearby Place du Tetre where we will see the artists and portrait painters at work. Montmartre is also home to the famous Moulin Rouge.

12 Day 2- Saturday, 23 rd March Arc de Triomphe Notre Dame Cathedral This Cathedral dominates both the Seine and the ecclesiastical history of Paris. Begun in 1160, it was finished a century and a half later. It is the art of Notre Dame that will awe and delight you. Built in an age of illiteracy, bible stories are everywhere - carved into the portals, painted on the altars, and emblazoned in the glorious stained glass windows.

22 Hand luggage Hand luggage is restricted to one piece per passenger. The maximum dimensions for a cabin bag are 55cm x 40cm x 20cm or 22in x 16in x 8in. Hand-luggage must weigh under 10 kgs/22lbs and be small enough to fit in overhead bins or under your seat. Additional small items (camera, personal stereo, overcoat, handbag or laptop) are allowed. Liquids are not permitted on-board unless they are in individual containers with a capacity not greater than 100 millilitres or equivalent and contained in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a capacity not exceeding 1 litre. The contents of the plastic bag shall fit comfortably and the bag shall be completely closed. Liquids include gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, shaving foam, aerosols and other items of similar consistency. Cooperation with leaders is expected at all times.

25 Clothing Climate expected to be similar to weather at home. No shorts or vest tops permitted in churches and museums; footwear comfortable for walking. Please note only regulation swimwear is acceptable at the Aquaboulevard, i.e Speedo briefs for boys and swimming costumes for girls. This is a legal requirement and cannot be waivered.

26 Safety Road safety/cars drive on right hand side, pedestrians must cross streets at designated crossings and with caution at all times. Communication All students will be given the contact numbers of two specially designated school tour mobile phones which the leaders will have at all times. Parents wishing to contact students should do so by contacting the students directly. Behaviour contracts Information/Parent Consent Form must be signed by parents/guardians and students please.

27 Sleeping & Eating After return to the hotel at night-time, students will be allowed a settling in period before lights out. It is essential for both students and teachers that quiet time is respected after lights out as the schedule is demanding and rest is needed by all for the early starts. Students are only permitted to be in their own rooms at any time of the day and are free to socialise in the hotel reception area during free time. All students should ensure that they have a main meal either at home or at the Airport before check-in. A full continental breakfast including cereals, tea/coffee, bread rolls, yoghurts, fruit, cheese and cold meats is served every morning in the hotel. It is very important that all students eat a full breakfast to avoid hunger and nausea during the first part of the day. Students should have bottled water at all times and avail of the rest times to snack and keep energy levels up.

28 Medical Concerns In keeping with the schools Substance Use Policy, teachers are unable to provide any medication to students weather prescribed or otherwise. If required, the services of a doctor are available through the hotel reception. In such an instance, it would be a teacher who would make the necessary arrangements and when serious parents will be contacted. Any medical or dietary issues need to be clearly communicated to the tour leaders prior to departure for Rome as per parent/guardian consent form.

29 Alcohol/Tobacco/Illegal Substances In keeping with the schools Substance Use Policy, students are not permitted to purchase, consume or have in their possession any Alcohol, Tobacco or Illegal Substance. Any such items will be confiscated and disposed of or in the case of illegal substances, handed over to the authorities. The school principal and parents will be informed should students breach this rule. Should a concern arise with regard to prohibited substances, staff may need to check student s rooms.
