37 Contacted 24 tenants with tail wheel aircraft based at TTA 30 Tail wheel aircraft owned by 24 tenants number of based aircraft at TTA per 2017 Form FAA 5010 Airport Master Record 20% - approximate number of tail wheel aircraft owned by 24 tenants Note: Was not able to contact all tail wheel tenants due to a self imposed time deadline actual number of signees most likely would have been > 25%

38 RS&H Master Plan Update Goals, WP 1, Section 1.2 The Master Plan Update s goals were developed based on an understanding of existing airport issues and stakeholder and group communications. I maintain that >20% represents a stakeholder position.

40 Triangle North Executive (LHZ), an airport 27 miles NE of Raleigh, that has a similar operational demand as TTA, has a grass landing area adjacent to their 05/23 asphalt runway. There is no reference to LHZ having a turf runway in the Airport Facility Directory, nor in the AirNavs. There is a reference to it on a link (Airport Safety Guidelines) on the website. The reference states, This airport does not have a control tower and only a single runway with a grass landing area alongside. It is suggested that Triangle North Executive be contacted to determine the rational they used in establishing this grass landing area.

41 The Pik N Pig In Carthage (BQ1) has a beautiful grass runway along side its asphalt runway. It is a privately owned airport open to the public. Mr. Gilliam has found a way around the compliance and liability issues. Pilots of retractable gear aircraft experiencing a landing gear issue would have the option of landing on grass or asphalt. A safety issue a fuel fed fire is less of an issue Private pilot students are taught soft field landings and take offs on asphalt or concrete runways. Soft field instruction/demonstration on a hard surface does not fully fulfill compliance with the intent of the Private Pilot Practical Test Standards specified in FAA

42 I suggest that we stop trying to find reasons for not going ahead with determining if a grass landing area is a possibility and try and figure out how to make it happen - as others have.
