Among the items displayed in the museum, you will find paintings, pulpits, prayer books, Arab tapestries, ceramics, and many more. Of note is the portrait of St George. Among the exhibits, you will also see surrealist films made by Dali and Luis Buñuel. The museum shop houses temporary exhibitions of works by international artists. The building of the museum itself is appealing. It is a medieval construction with a Majorcan interior patio, where visitors can have a rest and enjoy the picturesque green space. It gives an overview of Mallorcan history, displaying items such as Talaiotic and Roman remains, Christian art, Moorish ceramics, and many more. The museum is housed in a 17th-century building that is worth seeing as well. Opening hours: 10 am 2 pm, 4 pm 7 pm, on Sundays 10 am 2 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays and public holidays. The gallery holds individual and group exhibitions by various international artists. It was designed by Luis Gutierrez de Soto. There can be seen a series of unique contemporary sculptures (works by Rodin, Moore and Chillida), medieval engravings and carvings, and an 18th century Neapolitan nativity scene. The construction was originally built as a residence and later remodeled several times. The mansion become a museum in The museums collection features works by Picasso, Dali, Miro, as well as contemporary works by Spanish emerging artists. The museum also carries out temporary exhibitions of national and international contemporary works. Operation hours: 10 am 6.30 pm; Saturday am 2 pm; closed on Sundays. There is no entrance fee. Fundacio la Caixa restored and reopened the hotel in 1993, and now it is an art gallery that holds permanent exhibitions of paintings by Hermen Anglada-Camarasa. On the first floor of the hotel, there is a book shop where one can buy various books about design. 7 Copyright by GPSmyCity.com - Page 7 - H) Es Baluard Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art In business since 2004, and located in a former military fortress, Es Baluard Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art is a cultural and research center focused on Balearic & Mediterranean art from the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum collections include paintings, drawings and sculptures by 19th century artists like: Picasso, Miro, Giacometti, Cézanne, and others. It should be pointed out that the museum also has on display one of the largest cisterns from the 17th century, which was used to supply the Sant Pere quarter with water. Within the museum, there is a book shop and gift shop, as well as a restaurant where you can rest after exploring the museum's impressive collections. Operation hours: Tuesday Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm; Sunday from 10 am to 15 pm; closed on Mondays, 1st of January and the 25th of December. General fee: 6.
