4 Euro-Med : What opportunities for Eurojuris law firms? The Union for the Mediterranean is a proposed community of European Union member states and countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea planned to be established in July The proposal was originally made by French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The UM would consist of all the EU states and those countries on the Mediterranean willing to participate. The idea is to form a "bridge" between Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. It is hoped that an institutional core will be established by the end of the French presidency of the European Union in Eurojuris was a pionneer, for the legal sphere, in 1992 when the European Union's single market was established. We believe that the Euro-Med cooperation is likely to generate many opportunities for our members and their clients. We wish to be at the eve of the process, accompanying EU investors in the Mediterranean area and helping Mediterranean companies to develop in Europe. Eurojuris is cooperating with an initiative launched by French Eurojuris Member Bernard Delran called "Euromed avocats". The objective is to set up a network of legal practitioners on both side of the Mediterranean sea. There is a reason why we hold our congress in Athens. Greece has always been a historical crossroad for business between Europe and the Mediterranean countries. Athens 2008 will be a bridge for us to explore opportunities provided by this emerging market. Yves Gazzo, Head of the European Commission's delegation in France and one of the initiator of the Union for the Mediterranean has accepted to speak up at our conference. Other top speakers will assess with our members the legal and commercial aspects arising from the Euro-Med cooperation.

The second is called the Pyrghi (or tower) and is composed of a complex of two traditional rural houses, the remains of a stable and an old wine-press dating from the end of the period of Ottoman rule, in the early 19th century. The cape is located 69 km southeast of Athens at the southernmost point of Attica peninsula. The Temple of Poseidon, built on a site set back from the sheer cliffs and with its magnificent view of the Aegean Sea and islands, was ideally located for worship of the powerful god of the sea. In ancient times, mariners would see the brilliant white marble columns of the Temple of Poseidon and know they were close to home. ACROPOLIS ACROPOLIS VISIT Bus Shuttle What would a visit to Athens be without going to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon? The Acropolis was formally proclaimed as the pre-eminent monument on the European Cultural Heritage list of monuments on 26 March The Acropolis is a flat-topped rock which rises 150 m (490 ft) above sea level in the city of Athens. It was also known as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent-man, Kekrops or Cecrops, the first Athenian king.
