2 We are pleased to announce that the 8 th MPL Conference will be held in Barcelona, Spain starting the 5 th with departure 8 th November 2015 or departure the 9 th by choosing to take the optional extra on the 8 th instead. After having looked at many of the best hotels in the city that had the capacity for our needs, and based on our Host and MPL Member - Continental Spain s recommendation we selected The Arts, once we had seen the accommodation, restaurants, conference room and all the facilities. The Arts is probably the most prestigious and beautiful hotel in Barcelona, with its size and perfect location. It really is exceptional and we have no doubt that everyone will find it a pleasure staying there.

5 EVENING THURSDAY 5 TH NOVEMBER 19:00 HOURS - WELCOME DRINKS AND DINNER AT THE ARTS HOTEL Our leading event - and in many ways the most significant - opens with the Welcome Drinks followed by the Welcome Dinner. Both of which take place in The Arts Hotel, a spectacular venue. Why so significant? Because here you will meet business partners, old friends, new MPL Members and Non Members. Needless to say, first impressions are important and where better than in a relaxed social environment. This promises to be a wonderful evening, where the food and services are renowned to be extraordinary in The Arts Hotel, famous for its views and superior decor.

6 EVENING FRIDAY 6 TH NOVEMBER DINNER AT EL XALET DE MONTJUIC El Xalet de Montjuïc is pure luxury because of its ambiance and fantastic views. Stunning location surrounded by Joan Brossa of Montjuïc s gardens. The best of its cuisine the careful selection of the raw materials to create truly exquisite dishes. Its superb décor makes El Xalet de Montjuïc combines a warm style with modern and elegant touches. Worthy of mention is its large panoramic terrace and revolving dining room from where spectacular views of the city can be taken in, together with private lounges. Mediterranean and Catalan cooking with highly personal touches, although always respecting the traditional flavors and fresh produce.

8 SUNDAY 8 TH NOVEMBER OPTIONAL EXTRA: CODORNIU CODORNIU is synonymous to the history of a family of winegrowers, which goes back to the XVI century. It is the oldest family business in Spain and one of the oldest in the world. It now has 450 years of history behind it. The visit is with an exclusive guide and features and includes a welcoming in Sala Puig the Cathedral of Cava. Audiovisual, The Art Nouveau Tour: Josep Puig Cadafalch s architectural work declared a Historical-Artistic Monument in History and Heritage of the Codorníu family. The Codorníu winery s gardens. Celler Gran Museum and winery: Exhibit of traditional grape presses and fermentation machinery. Interactive scale model of the winery. The Table of Aromas and The First Codorníu Cava. Then continue descending into the underground cellars. Exhibition of traditional cava making machinery and make a train tour around the cavas. Included is wine tasting and at the end of the tour followed by a BBQ lunch.

11 Barcelona Barcelona is the capital city of the autonomous community of Catalonia and the country s 2 nd largest city, with a population of 1.6 million within its administrative limits. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 4.5 million people, being the sixth-most populous urban area in the European Union after Paris, London, Madrid, the Ruhr area and Milan. Founded as a Roman city, in the Middle Ages Barcelona became the capital of the County of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, Barcelona continued to be an important city in the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona has a rich heritage and is today an important cultural center and a major tourist destination. Particularly renowned are the architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner, which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean is located in Barcelona. The city is known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as major conferences and expositions and also many international sport tournaments.

12 Barcelona is one of the world s leading tourist, economic, trade cultural and sports centers, and its influence in commerce, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the major global cities. Currency is the EURO Early november the weather is generally mild. Average temperature: 14 C or 57.2 F Maximum temperature: 19 C or 66.2 F Minimum temperature: 11 C or 51.8 F Although each year can vary, most of the time it is dry, cool but overcast. There are a few rainy days and you would need a jacket when you are outside to keep warm. Be prepared to carry an umbrella for occasional rainy days.
