1 Campoamor Situated in the south of the Orihuela Costa region, the lovely coastal resort of Campoamor is a perfect location for a family holiday, having a good range of facilities and some wonderful sandy beaches. Campoamor is handily placed for visiting both the Costa Blanca and Costa Calida regions and can be accessed from both Murcia (San Javier) airport which is 20 minutes drive away and from Alicante airport which is about a 45 minute drive.( marked by arrow)the resorts of Mil Palmeras and Cabo Roig. Campoamor is perhaps best known for it s fine golf course which together with the neighboring courses of Las Ramblas and Villamartin attract golfers from all over the world. Campoamor and Cabo Roig attract both Spanish and foreign visitors and has a large British expat community. Campoamor is located on the N332 coastal road and can also be accessed from the AP-7 motorway (Dehesa de Campoamor exit)

2 WELCOME TO OUR HOME We hope you find everything you need and have a fabulous holiday. In an Emergency Contact Our Manager Sue Or Alan( 0044) or Wendy( 0044) NB: If you lose your keys (Call out fee & key/lock replacement costs will apply) Sue will meet you at the house with the keys when you arrive and will collect the keys at the end of your stay. General stuff Security The house is situated on a gated complex in a quiet cul de sac which is regularly patrolled by the complex s own security vehicles but do not leave your valuables in sight. Metal Shutters Doors and Grills When you go out please pull down the shutters, not only to keep it secure but also to keep it cool. When you are in the house or outside on the terrace prop the door open if they shut when you are outside you will be locked out! If you are using the solarium or upstairs balcony please make sure the downstairs front door and back door grill is locked as you will not hear anyone entering ( same as the UK!) Pool The pool is open from 8.00am 10pm daily- a key for the gate is provided. Remember to take it with you when you swim in case someone locks you in! Lock it behind you when you leave. Food If you arrive late don t worry a welcome pack can be provided if pre booked in advance ( payable to Sue on arrival) ask for details Sauces and store cupboard basics are available. Please feel free to use, but please replace for the next guests. Towels and linen Towels and linen are provided ( Bring your own beach towels) Please use beach towels to cover the sun beds and chairs to keep the cushions clean. Do s and Don ts Please do not sit on the settees if you are wet or oiled with sun cream as you will spoil the covers.

3 Please make sure all perishables are thrown away and the rubbish put in the green bins at the end of the road Any breakages are reported and cleared away Used towels at the end of your stay to be placed by the washing machine Chairs from outside are brought inside All plugs are removed from the wall sockets except the fridge PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE IN THE HOUSE. We recommend you hire a car to make the most of your stay in the area. We are 20 minutes away from Murcia Airport and 50 minutes from Alicante Airport. Campoamor beach is a 10 minute drive from the house. Supermarkets and bars are a 15 min stroll away. However, if you prefer not to drive or only hire a car for a part of your stay we can arrange airport pick- up and recommend local hire car companies. Alternatively we can advise of hire car companies from the airport. Please ask for details There is a local bus service that runs every hour from La Fuente Centro Commercial to Torrivieja and Campoamor beach ( more frequently in the summer) timetable at house. Taxis are fairly reasonable ( ask for the 2 nd swimming pool on Campoamor golf). Bikes are available for hire from The Spar shop at La Fuente- open everyday. 10 euro s - includes bike, helmet (compulsory in Spain) and bike lock. There are some hills but also a number of flat areas you can explore.

4 The Villa Our much loved house offers everything you need for your holiday or golfing break making it a home from home for you. The villa can comfortably accommodate 6 people. There are 2 good sized double bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the lounge all of which have ceiling fans fitted and are tastefully furnished with ample storage space. Upstairs bedroom 1 has a double bed, full length fitted wardrobes and patio doors that open onto the balcony overlooking the large landscaped swimming pool, a table and chairs are provided for you to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or evening aperitif.. Steps lead to the large roof top solarium with fabulous views A fully tiled bathroom with Bath and overhead shower is between both rooms. Towels are included plus complimentary soap and shampoo. A hairdryer is also available.

5 Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds, ceiling fan and large fitted wardrobes. On the ground floor in the lounge diner we have provided a flat screen LCD TV, Freesat, DVD, Hi-fi with i-pod docking port. A good range of DVD s, books, games and CD s for your use. Comfortable settees and furnishings give a cool haven from the sun. A modern fully fitted separate kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and equipment you will need to make your stay comfortable. A washing machine, iron and ironing board is housed in the separate galleria next to the kitchen. A large fully tiled downstairs toilet and shower room is also located on the ground floor. Outside there is a front patio overlooking the large landscaped pool area with a table, large parasol and seating for 6 and a back garden area.

6 Local stuff The most local supermarket is the Mercadona approx 2mins drive ( See map at house) or within walking distance - open all day Monday Saturday until 9.15 pm in the summer. There is also a small British supermarket at La Fuente should you be desperate for something from home. On the N332 there are several supermarkets on the way to Torrevieja but if you fancy a bit of retail therapy there are 2 shopping complex s within a 20 mins drive away- Dos Mares on the way to San Javier (off exit 777 of the AP7) and Habaneras Shopping Complex on the Torrevieja At Habaneras there are 3 floors of modern shops, cafes and a miniature fairground area on the top floor. At the rear of Habaneras is a large Carrefour superstore with everything you need. Across the road is the Habaneras entertainment center and more places to eat, including a KFC, on the other side of the complex is a large McDonalds. This area includes 10 Pin Bowling & crazy Golf

National Parks The La Lagunas de la Mata y Torrevieja Natural Park encompasses two salt lakes which have been hugely important in the production of salt, some salt is still produced there now. Salt production here dates back to the 13th century, making these the oldest (and they are also the largest) salt lakes in Europe. Between them, the two lakes virtually surround the town of Torrevieja and the area is now a Natural Park, due to large number of birds that nest or winter there - over 100 species in total. The park information centre is located at Casa Forestal de La Mata, close to the N332 coastal road and there are marked routes for walking, and in some cases, cycling.

8 Horse Riding Dehesa de Campoamor THE RANCH This can be tricky to find- but worth the effort! Go to Campoamor Beach and head west towards Los Altos de Campoamor The sign on the tree is 3horseshoes- take a right turn. Take the right hand Road at theresidential Monte Mar sign You will pass under the N332 the bridge you drive under is signposted THE RANCH You will see the entrance on your right EL CORTIJO restaurant is located here too You can ride out into the countryside or use the indoor school. In either case you will be accompanied by the instructor. The cost is 15 euros per hour inside and 18 euros per hour to ride out. You can make a booking in Spanish or French if you need to speak English ask for Isabelle. Bookings can be made by telephone or in person ( possibly better in person so you know where it is!) 9 GOLF- A small selection in the area Campoamor golf course 6203metre par euros Campoamor golf course was opened in 1989, designed by Carmelo Gracia and is the most panoramic golf course in the area, it is a long and testing course with fairways, lakes and 6 doglegs It has the longest par 3 of any of the courses in the area. Prior to playing you can practice on the driving range and putting greens. The new clubhouse has a large terrace overlooking the countryside offering a choice of first class food and tapas or just a quiet drink. Tel (96) Fax: (96) Las Ramblas golf course 5914 metres par72 50 euros At just 5 minutes drive away Las Ramblas golf course was created by the famous designer Pepe Gancedo and opened in It offers a challenging undulating course with rugged terrain and various wet hazards designed so that you often have to hit over ravines ( bring lots of balls!). The clubhouse is small but has a friendly atmosphere with the terrace overlooking the 18 th hole. Tel: (96) Fax: (96) Villamartin golf course 6132 metres Par72 55 euros Designed by Mr Paul Putman at 25 years old Villamartin golf course shows no signs of her age, at only a 5 minute drive away this beautifully kept course has first class greens and fairways and was host to the 2002 Spanish Open. The clubhouse and pool provide a wonderful setting to discuss the pars and birdies! Tel: (96) Fax: (96) La Finca golf course 6394 metres par euros This newest championship course in the area designed by Pepe Gancedo offering great greens and lots of water. At only 15mins drive away it is well worth the visit.

Its 18 holes run through two connected valleys surrounded by low, gently undulating ridges which protect it from the wind. The course is situated about 100 metres above sea level, which results in marvellous views over the intense blue of the Mediterranean Campoamor is one of the longest courses in the area, with wide and long fairways. Yet, precision is more important than you would initially say. Good puts on the fast greens are important for a good result. Campoamor is one of those courses that manages to facilitate both the experienced and the novice golfer. The special features of the course create difficult rounds for experienced players and simpler ones for those new to the sport. And the attractive clubhouse provides the perfect 19th hole.

12 Local Dining or just a drink. La Fuente Centro Commercial is a 3 min drive or a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the house - it offers a range of facilities including banks and ATM s that take all UK cards. There a number of good restaurants and bars some of which have nightly entertainment or just offer a pleasant atmosphere to sit and relax. There are two Irish bars offering good food and free wi fi (if you ask for the code) as well of a selection of restaurants offering English, Spanish, Indian, French, Italian, Chinese and Mexican cuisine to enable you to travel the world by your taste buds The Plaza - Villamartin A 10 minute drive away and slightly more expensive The Plaza offers a delightful choice of restaurants including the award winning Eduardo s some of our favourites are La Plaza and Che s- always busy but never too crowded. The Plaza offers a wonderful indoor or outside setting for an evening out, a square of restaurants and bars around a central garden of palm trees and plants which is home to many colourful parrots and birds, lit with hundreds of lights that creates an atmosphere second to none. The Plaza is suitable for families, couples and groups of friends as there are so many restaurants as well as pubs to choose from, look for the

13 menu del dia which is always good value. There also a late night disco/bar as well as karaoke some nights. Local bars- The Royal Oak serves a very good Sunday Lunch- situated just past the Mercadona and an Asian restaurant next door which is good value Cabo Riog Fancy something a little livelier? - then Cabo Riog strip is for you. Running alongside the N332 the strip offers an assortment of bars, restaurants and late night clubs including an Australian bar, fine dining, Spanish, Indian and Italian choices. All a 10 minute drive or taxi ride away. The Bushwacka Cabo Roig: Without doubt the most popular bar along the well known Cabo Roig strip, the Bushwacka Australian bar offers cheap drinks, decent food and hosts plenty of live entertainment, especially during the busy summer season Mil Palmeras has a good selection of bars and restaurants open during the summer months if you don t mind a 15 minute drive. Playa Flamenca has a large square with many bars that are lively as well a number of good restaurants We have put a selection of restaurant cards in the folder at the housethese are ones we have tried and liked, feel free to add to these if you find somewhere special. Some are slightly further a field but worth the drive, I would recommend you book in high season. It would be a shame to miss out.

14 Nearby Beaches Follow the N332 either way and you will find many las playas signposted! Le Zenia is our favourite this lovely cove with cliff top walks to Calle Capitan to the right and to the left Playa Flamenca which has a lovely newly built promenade overlooked by a couple of restaurants and shops. Le Zenia is one of the largest coves with a beach bar, pedalos and a banana boats, there is also a good restaurant overlooking the beach serving lunch if you require it. All of the beaches have life guards on patrol during high season. Campoamor beach is a lovely long beach stretching along a promenade with bars and a marina at the end. This beach is 10 minutes drive from the house and a bus leaves La Fuente every hour ( more frequent in the summer). Mil Palmeras is a long stretch of beach fronted by apartments ( do not try and drive to the front- park and walk) lovely long beach of golden sand with large hotel at the end with a nice Irish bar. At the other end is a small street and a square with a few restaurants that buzz in the summer not many open in the winter though! Torrevieja beaches ( there are many) but there is one particular favourite with older children because it has an inflatable mountain in the sea- erected for the summer this has been a favourite at least one day of the holiday. The beach is long and crowded and the promenade is well laid out with ice cream and drinks cabins at various points. There is parking on a scrubby piece of land opposite. Popular with Spanish holidaymakers, but if you can manage the heat around 3pm is a good time to get there as they have all gone for a siesta ( pick your spot while it s quieter) good luck!!!

15 The Mar Menor (Little Sea) Mar Menor is a huge (135 square km) salt-water lagoon, separated from the Mediterranean by the 24 km long La Manga del Mar Menor (The Strip). The average depth of the Mar Menor is four m and at its maximum it is seven m which means that the seabed slopes very gradually and you have to get several hundred m in before the water is of any depth. The Mar Menor's salinity provides buoyancy so it is, supposedly, one of the safest places to swim in the world. The mineral-rich waters are said to have therapeutic effects and because of this the area has a significant spa tourism industry

16 Local Towns Torrrevieja Well worth a trip on an evening to visit the market on the front and sample a meal along the way- many restaurants face the sea and are good value. Or do like the Spanish do, just sit, chat and while away the evening. The promenade is long and full of surprises with a funfair, market, sand sculptures, as well as shops, bars, restaurants and ice cream parlours. The market is open in the day and in the evening but usually closes during the afternoon when it is very hot. Parking can be found in the underground car park on the front and although there are queues at busy time we have never been turned away- often by the car park there will be groups of street entertainers, sometimes dancers, bands and singers.

17 Alicante The city of Alicante about an hours drive away via the N332 or the AP7 It is full of beautiful buildings and fabulous shops. On the front is a lovely marina with a wide range of bars and restaurants as well as the long golden sandy beach. The castle is well worth a visit if you don t mind the climb! You can also catch a train to Denia using the lemon tree line, a narrow gauge railway taking you up and over the mountains- cheap and well worth it- don t look down though, no barriers and long drops! Quesada has a small water park and is about 30 minute drive along the N332 & the CV905 between Torrievieja and Alicante. Benidorm is approximately 2 hours away, or 1 ½ hours via the AP7 if you fancy a visit to Aqualanda or Terra Mica. Brochures and discount tickets can be bought at Habaneras in Torrievieja. Benidorm actually doesn t deserve its rowdy reputation as the beaches are lovely, the old town is well worth a visit- don t knock till you tried it!
