3 Arrival to / departure from Athens Attica map The location of Athens International Airport related to the city of Athens can be seen in the following map. Transportation to/from airport GENERAL The airport is effectively connected to Athens by metro, bus or taxi. By Bus X95 The hotel can be accessed by bus using the bus route X95 (Athens International Airport Syntagma square). The ticket price is 5.00 and the ticket is validated inside the bus. Tickets can be bought from all metro stations and public transport ticket outlets. All buses disembark passengers at the Departures Level and depart from the Arrivals Level, between Exits 4 and 5. The journey from Athens International Airport to Syntagma has a mean time of 60 minutes. 3

4 PLATEIA MAVILI is the bus stop that serves the area near the hotel Athinais (You can ask the bus driver to announce you when the PLATEIA MAVILI stop comes). 6 By METRO line 3 The Airport is accessible via Metro Line 3: "Athens International Airport - Egaleo". The Metro terminal station is located opposite the airport arrival terminals building. Metro trains are colored silver, to be distinguished from the grey/pale blue and grey/mauve colored trains of the suburban rail network. (This line is shown on the map of the next page with blue color). The airport is accessible via Metro Line 3 Egaleo - Athens International Airport. 6

8 By Taxi Taxis are available at the designated Taxi waiting area located at Exit 3 of Arrivals Level. Once you get off the bus you walk a few meters back and you find the hotel (Point B). By Metro line 3 Hotel is located near MEGARO MOUSIKIS station (look at the map). Once you get out of the MEGARON MOUSIKIS metro station (Point A) you walk on Vasillissis Sofias Avenue and find the hotel on the left (Point B). By Taxi Ask for ATHINAIS hotel, at Plateia Mavili. 10 Getting to the Conference Venue from ATHINAIS Hotel By foot The distance is considerable and it is not advisable to get by foot at the Energy Policy and Development Centre which is located in the University Campus at Ilisia (almost 3km 40-45minutes from the hotel). By taxi You can get a taxi from the hotel or a few meters from the hotel at Plateia Mavili. It will be better to ask for a taxi at the reception of the hotel and ask them to explain to the driver how to get at KEPA. The driver will need to get in the university campus from the Oulof Palme gate after crossing from Efroniou street (please see the map in the next pages). Once the taxi gets in the University campus, it will continue until it reaches the tunnel of the campus (it will turn left at the circular Square and cross the tunnel underneath). KEPA is located right on the top of the tunnel. After passing the tunnel the driver will see on his/her right hand three roads. He/she will follow the middle one. Simultaneously, signs with the indication KEPA are visible. Then he/she will turn right and then again right. The road goes straight ahead and on the left you will see the building (please see the designed map). KEPA has two entrances. Please get in the KEPA premises from entrance 2. If there is no traffic jam then you will get at KEPA within minutes. The cost will be around 7 Euro. Please insist that the driver gets you at KEPA and does not leave you at the Philosophical School. If he/she is confused please ask him/her to call at the phone numbers that we will have sent you by . One of the KEPA staff will provide instructions. By bus There is not one bus route with which you can reach the conference venue from the hotel. A. When you get out of the hotel, continue on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue until Plateia Mavili where you will see a bus stop. Please get one of the yellow buses (they are called trollei) with number 3 or 8 and get out at the Evanggelismos stop (it is the second stop once you enter the trollei ie Plateia Mavilli Megaro Mousikis Evanggelismos). The ticket is 1.2 Euro. Once you get out please cross the road and get on the stop on the opposite direction (see small map on next page). B. There you will have to wait and get one of the blue (or green) buses with numbers 220, 221 or 250. If you get on No. 220 or 221, you will have 10

11 to get out at stop 9 th ILLISSION. If you get on No. 250, please ask the driver to get out at the Theological School (please see the designed map in the next pages). C. Walk a few meters opposite from the direction that the bus No. 220 or 221 was going. You will find a small gate and will enter in the university campus. Right in front of you, you will see the Theological School (see photo). Please walk towards it. On your right you will see steps, please go towards them. Walk as the road goes. 14 Specific Information for Approaching hotel AMALIA HOTEL ATHENS Contact details of the hotel: Tel: Fax: Address: 10, Amalias ave.greece Web-site: By Metro line 3 Hotel is located near SYNTAGMA station (look at the map 50m distance). You will take from the airport the metro line 3 and get out at the SYNTAGMA metro station. Once you get out you will find the Vasillisis Amalias Av.. The Parliament will be on your left. You will walk at this street and find the hotel (Point B) after walking for about 2 minutes. By taxi Ask for the AMALIA Hotel, at Vasilissis AMALIAS Avenue. 14

To be sure that you are on the right side, the Church will be literally on your right. B. There you will have to wait and get one of the blue (or green) busses with numbers 220, 221 or 15

19 Specific Information for Approaching hotel PRESIDENT Contact details of the hotel: Tel: Fax: Address: Kifisssias Avenue 43, , Athens, Greece Web - site : president@president.gr ή reservations@president.gr By BUS X95 Hotel is located near KARANIKAS bus station. Once you get off the bus you walk a few meters back and you find the hotel (Point B). By Taxi Ask for PRESIDENT hotel, at Leoforos Kifissias. Map of the area around hotel PRESIDENT, directions of how to get to the hotel. Go a few metres at the opposite direction that the X95 bus is following and find street Arkadias, turn left, walk on it and you will reach Leoforos Kifissias. You will see the hotel in front of you. 19

20 Getting to the Conference Venue from PRESIDENT Hotel By foot The distance is considerable and it is not advisable to get by foot at the Energy Policy and Development Centre which is located in the University Campus at Ilisia (it is 3.3km 50 minutes from the hotel). By taxi You can get a taxi from the hotel or just outside from Leoforos Kifissias. It will be better to ask for a taxi at the reception of the hotel and ask them to explain to the driver how to get at KEPA. The driver will need to get in the university campus from the Oulof Palme gate after crossing from Efroniou street (please see the map in the next pages). Once the taxi gets in the University campus, it will continue until it reaches the tunnel of the campus (it will turn left at the circular Square and cross the tunnel underneath). 24 Specific Information for Approaching hotel Attalos Contact details of the hotel: Tel: Fax: Address: Athinas 29, Monastiraki, Athens, Greece Web - site : info@attaloshotel.com By BUS X95 Hotel is located near SYNTAGMA bus station. Once you get off the bus you walk backwards (you will be on Othonos street) and find Mitropoleos street. Walk on Mitropoleos until you find Aiolou street. Turn right and walk until you reach Perileous street. Then turn left until you get at Athinas Street. Turn right and you will see the hotel on your left (Point B). By Taxi Ask for Attalos Hotel at Monastiraki. By Metro line 3 Get off at Monastiraki METRO Station (M on the map) and find Athinas street. Then walking a few meters and find the hotel. 24

It will be better to ask for a taxi at the reception of the hotel and ask them to explain to the driver how to get at KEPA.
