11 HISTORY OF THE SAINT St. James travelled from Palestine to Andalucía (Hispania) He started preaching his message in the South of Hispania, but moved towards the North Next, he moved to the East of the Iberian Peninsula Eventually, he returns to Palestine, where he was beheaded for preaching Christianity

12 The Saint s corpse was stolen and taken to Hispania SAINT JAMES GRAVE He was buried in Libredón Forest, in Galician lands Nine centuries after his death, his tomb was found and his remains were preserved

13 HISTORY OF ST. JAMES WAY The discovery of the Saint s remains spread through the Christian Europe King of Asturias, Alfonso II, is considered the first pilgrim of St. James Way Muslim troops defeated in the North, this means more territory

22 The Camino de Santiago is a route of diffusion of art and culture. It is full of churches, monasteries, cathedrals, hospitals. These temples were a place of shelter for pilgrims on their way to the Cathedral of Santiago, where the saint is buried.
