2 The A1A North Corridor Community Area comprised of five unincorporated areas: Porpoise Point Vilano Beach Surfside Beach North Beach South Ponte Vedra Beach Area is home to over 5,000 residents and an increasing number visitors renting vacation homes.

3 A1A Scenic Coastal Byway ONLY road connecting the Vilano & North Beaches communities to Town Center, St. Augustine, and Ponte Vedra Configuration: two lane road with bike lanes along both sides Right of Way: 66 feet wide Some sections (mostly near Guana) are 100 feet wide Speed limit: 40 MPH to 55 MPH Designated as a National Scenic Byway (2002) Identified as part of East Coast Greenway

4 The Problem No separation between bike lanes and traffic lanes vehicles traveling at MPH Presents serious safety hazard to pedestrians and bicyclists

5 Traffic on A1A has been increasing Traffic count (FDOT): , , ,500 19% increase since % increase since 2010 Continued growth in Vilano & North Beaches Community, Ponte Vedra, and Nocatee is expected to continue this trend.

6 Proposed Solution Use the existing right-of-way to add a 10 ft. wide multi-use trail with a 3 foot grass buffer Multi-use path along A1A in Flagler County

11 Present Status The route for this trail is: Consistent with and supportive of the national East Coast Greenway Identified in St Johns County Growth Management and Bike Ped Plans Identified in the DEP Office of Greenways and Trails Opportunity Corridor and Priority Trail Maps Identified by DEP in the Florida Priority Trails Map Project is eligible for funding from the SUN (Shared-Use Nonmotorized) Trail funding program administered through DOT. Previously included on NF-TPO list
