More information: Synagogue 0.45 km from Hotel Galant The core of the only preserved synagogue of the Polish type in Moravia dates from mid 16th century. Its shape was mainly changed by the fundamental reconstruction in the Baroque style after the fire of 1719, when the synagogue acquired its present appearance. The reconstruction was designed by the Dietrichstein architect J. Ch. Oedtl, who also managed reconstruction of the chateau. The last adaptations in 19th century only affected details, mainly the windows. Following a costly and long-term reconstruction the synagogue was made accessible to the public in early 1990s. On the southern slopes you can find the varied species of rocky steppe (low iris, Ivan s feather grass, mountain germander). Unique botanical features of the area include occurrence of several species of parasitic plants. The eastern slopes are covered with bushes dominated with hawthorn. The northern slopes were covered with forest in the past. The steppes are home of thermophillic insects. The most popular vertebrae of Svatý kopeček include eagle owl nesting in the wall of the abandoned quarry.

The House of Lichtenstein resided in Valtice and less than 10 kilometres far from there their summer-house, the Lednice castle, was built.
