3 FVG and THE BALTIC ADRIATIC AXIS A long path started in 2006 together with the European Regions belonging to the MS along the TEN-T PP23 Strong commitment at regional and national level to support BAC On the italian side (Friuli Venezia Giulia with Veneto and Emilia Romagna) Transport : a top priority of the political programme of the FVG President, mrs Debora Serracchiani also during her mandate at European Parliament

4 A NEW OPPORTUNITY: EUSAIR European Union Strategy for Adriatic and Ionian Regions December 2013: European Council request to the European Commission for a new strategy for the Adriatic Ionian Regions before the end of 2014 Connecting Regions pillar led by Italy and Serbia FVG is the coordinator of the Italian Regions within this pillar

5 EUSAIRs FOUR PILLARS Driving innovative maritime and marine growth - Greece and Montenegro Connecting the region (transport and energy) Italy and Serbia Protecting and improving the quality of the environment Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina Increasing regional attractiveness (tourism) Croatia and Albania Two cross-cutting areas: Research, innovation and SMEs development Capacity building and communication

6 EUSAIR STATE OF THE ART Stakeholder Conference (Athens, 6-7 February 2014) Illustrated results of the consultation with stakeholders carried out from October to December 2013 and public consultation launched by DG REGIO Results will support the preparation of the action plan that will be issued in June 2014 Action plan: a list of High-priority next steps to synchronise better implementation time-line between countries also with regard to BAC

7 ITALIAN PRESIDENCY AND EUSAIR 2 semester 2014 Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union Launch of the EUSAIR strategy European Council will endorse the strategy in autumn 2014

8 TRANSPORT: a priority in the EGTC - European Group for Territorial Cooperation EUREGIO without borders (FVG, Veneto, State of Carinthia): Euregio without borders, represents another tool to work better in the transport sector - the BAC is already considered one of the first result of this EGTC, a result achieved thanks to the collaboration with other European Regions as well as the project MICOTRA, for the improvement of border crossing regional rail transport between Villach- Tarvisio- Udine.

9 EU Cooperation Projects : FVG Region is partner in many EU projects in collaboration with the Central European Initiative: BATCO under Central Europe Programme Second phase of ADRIA A project extended to Austria, Poland, CR and Slovenia (intercity connectivity) Second phase of Watermode to focus on Adriatic ports ACROSSEE, to improve the accessibility in South-East Europe MICOTRA Launch of specific projects for cross-border services Launch of specific studies and implementing action for interport connectivity
