1 Historic Preservation Awards: Thanks to everyone who attended Buda's Historic Preservation Awards Ceremony earlier this week. The following were recognized: The Howe House, 200 Prairie St. - Exterior Restoration for Residential: acknowledges historic restoration projects for the exterior of the structure where exceptional care, sensitivity and respect for the historic fabric and or setting of the property were displayed. Buda School, 300 N. San Marcos St. - Exterior Restoration for Mixed-Use/Commercial: acknowledges historic mixed-use or commercial restoration projects for the exterior of the structure where exceptional care, sensitivity and respect for the historic fabric and or setting of the property were displayed. Main Street Dental, 108 S. Main St. - Adaptive Re-use: recognizes a successful adaptive re-use of a property where the excellence in design inspires new and different uses for an existing building. 202 S. Cedar St. - Architecturally Compatible New Structure: recognizes new construction that compliments the character of the district and surrounding structures.

3 Summer Classes for Adults at Buda Public Library: Who says summer fun is just for kids? For the first year, the Buda Public Library is offering a special adult class series! They will be hosting weekly yoga, Hays Master Gardener programs, and art classes. Check out the list of our June classes and register here: City Hall Monument Relocated: Public Works removed the monument in front of City Hall this week. 6 Peak lawn watering season is right around the corner. Ensuring your irrigation system is properly working and following the recommended watering schedule will not only save water, but will save you money. It is important to visually inspect your irrigation system routinely to make sure you are getting the most efficient use. 1) CHECK THE CONTROLLER make sure the date, time, and system settings are correct. Replace the battery backup annually. 2) CHECK FOR OBSTRUCTIONS remove any dirt, debris, grass, or plants that are obstructing a sprinkler head. 3) CHECK SPRINKLER ALIGNMENT AND SPRAY DIRECTION make sure sprinklers are flush with the soil surface and not tilted. Adjust nozzles that are spraying the sidewalk/street. 4) CHECK FOR WEAR AND TEAR replace worn or broken nozzles, ensure proper function. valves, and pipes. Inspect valves closely to 5) CHECK FOR SURGE open valves slowly when restoring water to avoid damage from pressure surge. 6) CHECK WATER PRESSURE ideal systems operate between psi (pressure per square inch). Misting water indicates high pressure and the need for a pressure regulator. 7) IRRIGATION AUDIT have a licensed irrigator perform an irrigation audit on your system to maximize your water and money savings. 8) FOLLOW THE WATER CONSERVATION ORDINANCE watering is prohibited between the hours of 10:00 am and 7:00 pm year-round. There are currently no drought restrictions in place, however, watering is prohibited year round during the hours of 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. Currently residents can water on any day during the week, but the City of Buda recommends keeping a 2 day per week watering schedule.

7 CITY OF BUDA SEEKING PROPOSALS TO LEASE OR PURCHASE FORMER CITY OFFICES Buda City Hall Building, 121 S. Main Street Buda City Annex Building, 100 Houston Street BUDA, TX - March 28, In the summer of 2018 City of Buda Employees will move into a new Municipal Building. Once the move is complete, our current city Hall, city Annex buildings, and library will be vacant. For the last several months, the Buda City Council has discussed what to do with the current city hall, city hall annex, and library once the new City Hall/Library complex opens this summer. All three facilities are located in downtown Buda within the Main Street District. After evaluating different options, the City of Buda will release a Request for Proposals (RFP) on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, to solicit ideas for reuse of the current city hall and city hall annex properties. A RFP will not be issued for the current library as the city is considering reusing this facility as staff offices for the Tourism and Main Street departments along with a space for community organizations to gather. About City Hall (121 S. Main Street) Originally built in 1992 and expanded in 2003, the approximately 6,391 square foot facility currently serves as the administration offices for the City of Buda. The property is located in the heart of Buda s historic downtown district. The City is soliciting proposals to enter into a lease for the reuse of this facility. 8 CITY OF BUDA SEEKING PROPOSALS TO LEASE OR PURCHASE FORMER CITY OFFICES About the City Hall Annex (100 Houston Street) This approximately 7,500 square foot, two-story facility was once a sign shop and hardware store before serving as office space for the City of Buda Police and Planning/Engineering departments.
