Embark the National Geographic Explorer. DAY 1 OSLO, NORWAY THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 2018 The northernmost city in the world, Longyearbyen is the largest community and the administrative center of Svalbard, Norway. This small and colorful town has developed from being a typical village town into a modern community with different kinds of businesses and industries, and with a surprisingly wide range of cultural activities and opportunities, such as concerts, shows, festivals, and exhibitions. In addition to a few thousand polar bears, the Svalbard islands are home to almost 3,000 human inhabitants, over 2,000 of which live in Longyearbyen. Our jumping off point for the Arctic, Norway s capital is an undiscovered treasure. Between the Oslofjord and the forests lies Oslo, the country s largest city, with its vibrant social scene and special combination of nature experiences and city life. Literary types know it as the home of playwright Henrik Ibsen, and Nobel Prize winner Knut Hamsun dedicated one of his best-known works to the city. Art, architecture, and shipbuilding history beckon visitors to the city s many museums and parks. Norway s capital since 1814, Oslo is home to the Norwegian government and the Royal Family. The country s largest cultural institutions, which include the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, the National Theatre, and the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, present first-rate art exhibitions and opera, ballet, and theatre performances. Oslo is surrounded by nature, and the city feels clean and safe. A growing café and bar scene offers a laid-back way to enjoy this Scandinavian capital city. 19

11 DAY 3-8 SVALBARD, NORWAY SATURDAY, JUNE 9 - THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2018 Our travel in the archipelago is truly exploratory by design, and our exact day-to-day movements will remain flexible, depending on local conditions. Our main focus is the search for Svalbard s amazing wildlife: polar bear, reindeer, and walrus. Observe seals and arctic foxes and search for the very symbol of the Arctic majestic polar bears. Cruising in Svalbard s fjords, venture to the foot of stunning tidewater glaciers. We ll take our Zodiacs and kayaks to cruise among beautiful icebergs, and experience the geology, wildlife, and wildflowers that give color and vitality to the High Arctic. The Svalbard Islands located in the Arctic Ocean halfway between Norway and the North Pole. Svalbard means cold coasts and was first mentioned in Icelandic texts in the 12th century. However, the archipelago has a relatively mild climate compared to other areas at the same latitude. Historically, both whaling and trapping have been major activities in the archipelago, but now sustainability is the guiding principle in every way. Nearly two thirds of the surface of Svalbard is protected, and consists of several nature reserves, national parks, bird sanctuaries, and even a geotopical protected area. DAY 9 OSLO, NORWAY FRIDAY, JUNE 15, 2018 Disembark the National Geographic Explorer and explore Longyearbyen before we fly to Oslo on our private charter flight before returning to the United States. 21

Resort casual attire normally refers to polo-style shirts, sundresses, khaki pants, skirts, button-up tops, and dresses. WHAT FOOTWEAR IS NEEDED FOR THE ARCTIC? One pair of fully waterproof knee-high rubber boots with sturdy, high-traction soles are essential. We stress the importance of boots that are completely waterproof so that your feet will not get wet when you step into shallow, icy water during wet Zodiac landings. Additionally, boots should have good traction because you are likely to encounter poor footing on ice and rough terrain. Comfort is important if your boots are too heavy or bulky, your footing will be awkward during hikes. Also, good walking shoes such as sneakers are essential for on board the National Geographic Explorer. A detailed expedition packing list will be provided as the voyage embarkation date gets closer. IS A PARKA PROVIDED? No. On Arctic expeditions, a parka is not provided. IS THERE A FITNESS CENTER ON BOARD? The National Geographic Explorer features a glass-enclosed fitness center with gym equipment, including treadmills, stationary bicycles, elliptical cross-trainer, free weights, benches, and body bar. There is also an outdoor stretching area. IS THERE A POOL ON BOARD THE EXPLORER? No, National Geographic Explorer does not have a pool. IS THERE A SPA AND SALON ON BOARD? Exploring the world can be a powerful restorative tonic. To that end, Lindblad Expeditions offers you options to tap into your own personal wellness goals and help you rejuvenate as best we can. The LEXspa, sauna, and fitness center are located on the wellness deck. A wellness specialist is available for wellness elements ranging from massages, facials, and body treatments to activities with more fitness in mind, such as aerobic hikes, morning stretching classes with poses inspired by yoga or Pilates, personalized guidance with the fitness equipment, and more. Their goal is not a one model fits all, but rather a multi-tiered approach to exploration and rejuvenation. There are two spa treatment rooms on the National Geographic Explorer where wellness treatments are offered. IS THERE LAUNDRY SERVICE ON BOARD? At an additional charge, the ship s laundry will handle personal laundry and pressing. There are no facilities for dry cleaning on board. ARE DINING RESERVATIONS REQUIRED ON BOARD THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER? No. Meals are served in one open seating for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. CAN LINDBLAD EXPEDITIONS ACCOMMODATE MY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS? If you have special dietary requirements (e.g., vegan, diabetic, gluten-free, etc.) please advise Holly Bryan or your Member Services team prior to your departure date. The culinary team will make every effort to accommodate your request with the resources available to them. Unfortunately, the ship cannot provide kosher meals, but can provide vegan meals. WHAT ONBOARD DINING IS AVAILABLE? Meals are served in one open seating in the panoramic-windowed restaurant or in the more intimate bistro bar. In addition, on occasion light lunches are served out on the sun deck or in the observation lounge. Tables are always unassigned to encourage mingling and to ensure you dine with a variety of fellow guests, expedition team members, and special guest experts. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, with an array of healthy options from fruits, vegetables, freshly squeezed juices, homemade breads choices range from simple to indulgent to satisfy any yearnings. Dinner is served with varied meat, fish, or vegetarian options. Lindblad Expedition s sustainable seafood program aims to serve locally caught or harvested fresh seafood. Our baker presents fresh breads and desserts daily to surprise and delight. Meal hours will be posted in the Daily Program. 45

24 WHAT IF I AM CELEBRATING A SPECIAL OCCASION DURING THE CRUISE? If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, or other special occasion during your expedition, we will be happy to celebrate the event with you. Please advise Holly Bryan or your Member Services team of such occasions at least six weeks prior to departure. IS SMOKING ALLOWED ON BOARD? For Inspirato and Lindblad Expeditions, the comfort, enjoyment, and safety of all members is paramount. Most areas on board are non-smoking; however, there are certain areas where cigarette smoking is permitted outdoors. IS THERE A CASINO ON BOARD? No. There is not a casino on board. IS THERE A LIBRARY ON BOARD? National Geographic Explorer features an onboard library with an extensive selection of books pertaining to the region. IS THERE A GIFT SHOP ON BOARD? Yes. It offers a selection of expedition clothing, and practical items including toiletries, camera memory cards, and binoculars. ARE RELIGIOUS SERVICES OFFERED ON BOARD? No, there are not any religious services offered on board. WHERE CAN I STORE MY VALUABLES AND CURRENCY ON BOARD? The ship is not equipped with safety deposit boxes. We recommend that you leave jewelry and other valuables at home. Guests are asked to see the Purser if they have something that must be kept in the ship s safe. All passports are kept throughout the duration of the voyage by the Purser. Neither Inspirato nor Lindblad Expeditions is responsible for any articles such as money, jewelry, cameras, binoculars, documents, or any other items that you retain in your personal control or in your stateroom. ARE PETS ALLOWED ON BOARD? Lindblad Expeditions cannot accommodate pets on any voyage. MAY I HAVE OR BRING VISITORS ON BOARD THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER? Unfortunately, no visitors are permitted on board the National Geographic Explorer during our expedition. WHAT IS THE TIME DIFFERENCE IN THE ARCTIC? Svalbard is six hours ahead of the U.S. East Coast (ET). WHAT TIME IS EMBARKATION AND DISEMBARKATION? Embarkation is 5 p.m. and disembarkation is 8:30 a.m. WHERE DO WE DOCK IN LONGYEARBYEN, NORWAY? The National Geographic Explorer will be docked at the Longyearbyen Harbor. ARE THERE MEDICAL FACILITIES ON BOARD? There is a doctor on board all National Geographic Explorer voyages; and his/her services are free of charge. The doctor is available at any time in case of emergency. Please inquire about the doctor for your individual expedition. WHAT IF I AM PREGNANT? At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. Lindblad Expeditions is unable to accommodate women who have entered their twenty-fourth week of pregnancy and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions on travel that may differ from Lindblad Expeditions. Please contact your travel professional or airline. 47

Lounge seating is arranged to provide good views of the center podium; and multiple plasma screens on the surrounding walls ensure optimal views of presentations, slideshows, and videos. It s here where the expedition community gathers for lectures, photography talks, guest speaker presentations, and the evening Recap. A long standing Lindblad tradition, Recap is when naturalists share stories and answer questions about the day s events, and the expedition leader presents the plan for the following day as guests enjoy cocktails and hors d ouevres. Large windows line two sides of the room, so guests who gravitate to the lounge with their laptops won t miss the dramatic views. CHART ROOM During the day, the forward-located chart room offers you direct access to the bow for optimal wildlife viewing. Some station themselves at the chart room s windows. While those who choose to be out on deck or on the bow come in to warm up or re-fuel at the 24-hour selfservice beverage station, stocked with cookies, sodas, soft drinks, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee. In the evening, intimate dinners of up to 14 guests are hosted here. BISTRO BAR Inviting and casual, the bistro bar is a perfect spot to have a cappuccino before or after activities. And the bistro is the place to be for afternoon tea, and choice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well. A variety of beverages are available for purchase including beer, cocktails, spirits, and wines by the glass or bottle. Sodas, juices, and coffees (including cappuccinos and espressos) are complimentary. LIBRARY You ll find commanding views and comfortable leather armchairs in the library, set at the very top of the ship. A wide range of books run the gamut from fiction to regional guides, and reference books on the wildlife and region you re exploring. For many, this room is their favorite on board. An elevator provides easy access to the bistro bar and lower decks. OBSERVATION LOUNGE Walking aft from the library, you ll enter the radiant observation lounge. With panoramic windows running the entire length of this narrow, domed lounge, you ll feel as if you re almost floating above the ship while spectacular scenery dramatically unfolds outside. Stocked with cards and board games, and equipped with binoculars, it welcomes guests for early morning reading or those wanting an evening card game. A light lunch is often served here as well. MUD ROOM You ll use a locker in the mudroom throughout the expedition to store your boots, rain pants, and cold-weather gear. Our unique in-ship Zodiac boarding stations, designed by our VP- Marine Operations Capt. Leif Skog, are adjacent. They allow you to step into a Zodiac safely and dry from a secure platform inside the ship rather than a ladder dangling outside. With two possible embarkation gates, we can also get you into our Zodiacs quicker, meaning you ll have more time ashore and less time waiting. OPEN BRIDGE You may come to consider the bridge another public space, as guests are encouraged to visit our officers 24-hours a day. Guests usually first arrive for a morning coffee shortly after sunrise, and many spend every evening watching the sunset and taking in the hushed darkness of the bridge at night. Two benches provide comfortable seating options to look out and enjoy the expansive view over the bow, and you re always apt to find naturalists scanning the sea for wildlife when the ship is underway. Binoculars are available if you want to help them search. 51

27 FITNESS CENTER The fitness center with its expansive floor to ceiling windows and 180-degree vista offers a million-dollar view along with exercise bikes, elliptical and treadmill machines, free weights, yoga mats and exercise balls. WELLNESS CENTER The professional wellness specialists on the National Geographic Explorer offer soothing massages and treatments in our LEXSpa. Adjacent, there is a Swedish Sauna, perfect for quick warms ups after polar plunges or as a relaxing way to end the day. GLOBAL GALLERY Located near reception, the global gallery is an inviting area part shop, part gallery that showcases an eclectic mix of handicrafts, jewelry, and artwork from the many regions the National Geographic Explorer explores, as well as the work of acclaimed designers. It also offers a selection of expedition clothing, and practical items including camera memory cards and binoculars. PHOTO KIOSK An imac station is available in the ship s internet café for sorting and transferring your photos. It s equipped with a digital media reader and USB outlets. Bring along an external hard drive or USB drive (or several) to store and back up your photos. Use of the photo kiosk is complimentary, on a first-come, first-serve basis. MEMBER COMMUNITY We continue to build our member community and add more benefits to your club membership. As such, this journey is reserved only for Inspirato member families and their guests. You will share this special experience with likeminded Inspirato members. Meals are served in the elegant dining room and the adjacent, more intimate bistro bar. Seating is open, allowing you to choose where to dine, and table sizes range from two to 12. And the style is always relaxed and casual there s never a need to dress up. More than opportunities to eat well, meal times are also opportunities to engage in the diversity of the expedition community to join or be joined by naturalists, guest speakers, ship s officers, and fellow guests for stimulating and entertaining conversation. Breakfast is usually served buffet-style in the dining room and consists of a selection of fruit, eggs to order, cereal, yogurts, cheese, and cold meats, and specially prepared daily dishes, plus fresh coffee and tea. An early riser continental breakfast is served in the bistro as well, and many guests choose to take their coffee and morning pastries to the bridge or out on deck. Lunch is also served buffet-style in the dining room and bistro bar, with salads and both hot and cold buffet choices available. Most days a light-lunch option is held in the observation lounge at the very top of the ship. When weather conditions permit, the light-lunch is held outdoors on the aft sundeck, offering a stunning backdrop and the cheerful company of our amiable hotel manager. Depending on the day s activities, an afternoon tea with cookies, or occasionally, cakes and pastries, is served buffet-style in the bistro bar. Dinners are served in the dining room and bistro, and feature plated service. Each evening, a ship s officer, National Geographic staff, or a naturalist hosts small tables in the chart room as well. And whether a meal is buffet-style or served, our gracious wait staff is always present to attend your every need. With the entire expedition team dedicated to delivering the best expedition possible, meal times are always flexible. If a polar bear is sighted shortly before lunch, our crew is adept at quickly changing meal times so you don t miss a moment, and the quality of lunch is uncompromised. DINING Part of the joy of sailing on the National Geographic Explorer is the contrasts: one moment you re paddling among icebergs or hearing about the deprivations the Heroic Age explorers endured, and one hot shower and a cocktail later, you re enjoying a glass of Malbec and duck breast. Dining is an integral part of your expedition experience, with influences and flavors that reflect the region we re exploring, along with traditional fare. All food prepared aboard is sourced locally whenever possible from sustainable providers. All seafood served is sustainably caught or raised. 53
