4 2 Asia Now

5 Rivers and mountains are like so many bridges Traditional Chinese motto of Pacific Delight Tours The remarkable developments in Asia have transformed this fabled and ancient region into a dynamic leader of the world economy and global community. Peace and prosperity are now enjoyed by most countries where recent ancestors were plagued for generations by wars and deprivation. A first time voyager recently recounted, I came to Asia to see the glories of its past, but found the future of the world! Asia Now! is a wonder of the old, new and unexpected. Today Asia features the best of services amidst a deep cultural heritage with traditional sights in contrast to striking new architecture. Every year brings new surprises to encounter. Old, New and Eternal. To travel is to discover and explore in the world. To travel has always made people see and know more, to grow to understand other cultures long separated by vast distances. Once the reserve of the brave and foolish seeking exotic pleasures, today travel to Asia is both comfortable and affordable. With the best professional arrangements, the journey can be reliably luxurious and personally fulfilling. The ease of travel has made our world a better and friendlier place. When we know more about a destination and how to get there in confidence, we feel good to go And especially to Asia, Now! The historic changes in Asia have made much of the region safe and open for travel. China, for so long in conflict and isolation, is now the centerpiece of Asian travel. The gateway cities of China provide ready access to all of Asia. With China s opening policies leading to prosperity for the region, ever expanding travel connections lead to an enduring integration helping to assure an era of peace for the future. Today, from Japan to Singapore, Shanghai to Bangkok, Bali to Seoul, Beijing to Burma, there are more beautiful facilities, scenic and cultural attractions than ever. Yes, there are traffic jams and vast modern cities where placid villages once seemed eternal. But the remarkable quality of Asia is that the changes in skylines and transport have not taken away the human interest of being there. Even amidst busy new cities and the hurried commerce of our times, traditional hospitality and personal courtesies endure. All the nations of Asia, even as close neighbors have their own distinct qualities and varieties of life. These are more easily savored by the traveler than ever. And the placid villages are still out there to discover. Asia Now! means that even if you have been before, there is always something new to see and again experience wonder. All you need to take along is your curiosity and sense of adventure. by Richard Hayman for Pacific Delight Tours April
