15 Port of Oslo Norway s largest public combined cargo and passenger port Every week, between 50 and 70 ships arrive at the port, carrying either cargo and passengers or both The port of Oslo has approximately 40 % of the container market in eastern Norway (2014) The port has docking 4-5 tankers per week (249 in all of 2014 ) The record for the number of containers (TEU*) loaded and unloaded in one month is (June 2010) Half of the population lives within a three hour radius of the port 15

33 In Norway, there is an accident involving a semi-trailer on average evey other day. One containership replaces 400 semitrailers. 33

35 Environment air quality Only 9 % of the city's total NOx emissions come from port and maritime transport in Oslo Only 4 % of the harmful NO2 concentrations comes from harbour 82% of the city's NOx emissions come from road transport in Oslo Particles and particulate matter from maritime transport is negligible compared to emissions from road transport Only 8 % of the total air emissions (NOx) in Oslo harbour comes from port activity on land, including trailers in and out of the harbour 65 % of total air emissions (NOx) in Oslo harbour area comes from foreign maritime transport (35 % ferries, cruise ships 22 %, 8% container ships ) 35

36 Environment electric and low noise new equipment 2 new STS cranes are among the world's quietest and energyefficient cranes (as of ) 8 new stacking cranes have arrived at the Port of Oslo in 2015, electrical of course 1 new mobile, electric crane: It was purchased by a customer and it was in operation in new Yilport-trailers with rubber cushioning reduces impact noise 36

37 Onshore power supply reduces NOx, particles, SOx & CO2 It is effective, works well when it fits the ship and it reduces emissions But it only amounts to a small part of the city s total NOx emissions Color Fantasy and Color Magic use onshore power at the Port of Oslo every day, all year round The onshore power supply for one ferry reduced the port s total NOx emissions by around 10%
