CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT As of 1 January 2013, Mr Chin Sze Kiun completed his secondment at N-KOM, Qatar and resumed duty as Assistant General Manager Commercial (Repair), at Keppel Shipyard Limited, Singapore. Chin Sze Kiun will report directly to Mr Louis Chow, Senior General Manager (Commercial). Mr Chin s successor at N-KOM is Mr Nur Effendi Sahid, who will be handling the commercial and marketing function for N-KOM from now and onwards. UNDER COVER Gibdock s No. 3 Drydock is 154m x29m x11m and has a retractable cover with 29.5m air draught over 2m dock blocks. The dock is served by two 10 tonne cranes. The cover was built and designed in conjunction with Gibdock by an American company in 1999 and works completed and the cover inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Gibraltar in March Due to the cover being in three sections that can be split, crane cover still exists when the dock is covered. The retractable cover offers all weather protection for vessels in dock, whether this be rain or sunshine. The cover provides environmental protection and the highest quality of paint finishes, applied by Gibdock s highly trained personnel and latest technology equipment. RECORDBREAKING N-KOM N-KOM, the prominent Gulf repair yard has completed a record 32 LNG tanker repairs in 2012.

With over 50 LNG repairs performed since the yard s opening in 2010, N-KOM is rapidly establishing itself as the centre of gas tanker repairs in the Middle East.

Photo: N-KOM KEPPEL SINGAPORE CONTRACT FOR CONVERSIONS Golar LNG has converted two FSRU s at Keppel Offshore & Marine in Singapore. However, the company recently announced an agreement with Keppel to develop its first floating liquefied natural gas vessel (FLNGV), based on the conversion of existing Moss LNG tankers, of which Golar owns three units. From being the first shipyard in Asia to convert a tanker to an FPSO in 1981, Keppel Shipyard has advanced into completing the most number of FPSO, FSO and FSRU projects in the world to date! Further, for normal docking, Keppel is currently undertaking repairs for three vessels managed by the Bernard Schulte Group: the 99,450 dwt tanker Proteo, the 16,621 dwt tanker Eva Schulte and 23,256 dwt LPG tanker Arctic Gas. Detyens Shipyards, Inc., located in North Charleston, South Carolina, celebrated their 50 th anniversary in Detyens Shipyards has held a steady course of growth and excellence in the ship repair business. In the first five months of 2012, Detyens has dry-docked and repaired more than ten internationally owned vessels from Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom. Detyens has recently completed a six-ship package with Jungerhans Maritime Services of Germany. The vessels (Maersk Ravenna, Maersk Rotterdam, Pavo J, Tucana J, Pegasus J, and Corona J) were in for routine dry-dock maintenance, class renewals and upgrades. The LPG Tanker Eupen and the Sombeke managed by Exmar found their way to Detyens in the spring of The Eupen drydocked in May for classification renewal and steel hull repairs. The Sombeke dry-docked in March for regular routine maintenance. The LPG Brugge Venture, managed by Wah Kwong Shipping in Hong Kong, dry-docked in May for regular routine maintenance. The M/V Langeness, managed by Reederei Briese, dry-docked for removal and refit of the propeller and routine maintenance. The Jummetor, managed by Phoenix-Reederei, recently dry-docked for repairs to the propeller shaft blades and o-ring seals. The Normand Clipper, managed by Solstad, underwent an upgrade to the habitability air conditioning system to provide an additional 18 tons of capacity. Both 25 ton and 250 ton cranes were painted and the main cylinders were overhauled. The vessel also had a complete underwater hull painting, bow thruster overhauls and overhauling of the diesel engines, deck winches deck cranes, repairs to the helo deck and a complete change out of the port engine. Currently, the projects that Detyens Shipyards, Inc. are working on are: The Corona J, managed by Jungerhans, Knorr and Atlantis, managed by Woods Hole, the Chesapeake Trader managed by Crowley, Marine Responder managed by Marine Spill and Response Corp, Great Lakes Dock and Dredge New York, GLDD 401, GLDD 402, GLDD 65, GLDD 66 managed by GLDD and the T&T Express managed by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. In 2013, Detyens Shipyards, Inc. will install two new tower cranes alongside dry-dock 5.
