1 MARKET REPORT WEEK 30 BASED ON SALES AND PURCHASES OF VESSELS WEEK ENDED FRIDAY 29 th JULY The dry freight market continues to fall with the BCI losing another -5% w-o-w, the BPI -1.5%, the BSI -1% and the BHSI -3%. Accordingly, the dry S+P sector is far from active albeit Chinese buyers appeared to develop a small appetite for overage handy loggers towards the end of last week. One good bit of news last week was the rumor that Grand China Logistics may have cancelled up to 10 capesize and 6 VLCC newbuilding orders. A good few more similar sized cancellations by others would be even better news for the market going forward... In the demolition sector the Bangladesh saga is still ongoing with the High Court there saying one thing one day, which the next day the Bangladesh Supreme Court appears to then countermand. Nevertheless buying demand across the sub continent remains strong as do prices offered which are now back into the $ region. China demo rates generally remain in the mid $400 level. 1
