We have a long history of working with the Karanki Magdalena indigenous community to the north of Quito. 8 GALAPAGOS Galapagos! The name alone resonates on so many levels. It is surely a must-see destination on any naturalist s bucket list. Known as the birth place of the Theory of Evolution and as a Living Laboratory, Galapagos is indeed a place where basic evolutionary principles can be observed first hand. Charles Darwin famously visited the archipelago in 1835 on board the HMS Beagle. He stayed in the archipelago a mere five weeks yet, his profound powers of observation were to change forever the way that we have come to understand how life has evolved. As important as it has proved scientifically the Galapagos will provide any wildlife-loving visitor with a great sense of enjoyment, satisfaction and oneness with the world. We encourage the respectful visitor to come and see the islands for themselves. They are home to an eclectic, incongruous, mix of species. We have some of the largest shark concentrations anywhere along with sea lions, fur seals and turtles. While the stress of a chaotic world fades to a distant memory a new, all-consuming, reality takes shape as our Galapagos adventure develops. Our options are endless and varied, we might find ourselves strolling amongst nesting bluefooted boobies, sitting quietly watching waved albatross in full courtship display or share a quiet corner of a white-sand beach with relaxed sea lions. Each day the ocean beckons. Some will choose to discover her secrets from the novel perspective of a transparent kayak or, perhaps, the comfort of a glass-bottom boat. Others will crave the intimacy of diving her depths with mask and fins, to be at one with penguins, green turtles, cavorting sea lions or large schools of surgeonfish. HIKING Twice-daily excursions ashore to the best visitor sites permitted by the national park. We will always be in the company of an expert naturalist guide. Walks will concentrate on spending quality time learning about the native fauna and flora. We will have ample time to observe, absorb and photograph. For your convenience walking sticks are available for those who wish. SNORKELING With snorkeling equipment available on board (at no cost) we invite you to explore the exuberant underwater world. A naturalist guide will always be present while snorkeling. Our dinghies remain close at hand for snorkeler s convenience and safety. We will offer snorkeling activities once or twice per day on the best snorkeling spots of the archipelago.

18 A TYPICAL CRUISE DAY A soothing morning wakeup call signals a freshly prepared al fresco breakfast on deck. Armed with snorkel gear, sunblock and camera we then board our pangas and head towards shore for our morning adventure. Every excursion is different, but might include a visit where we squeeze past boobies nesting on the narrow trail, sit and watch endemic waved albatross absorbed in their intricate courtship ritual, or stare into the eyes of a curious sea lion underwater as it peers into our face mask. Returning aboard for a sumptuous, buffet-style, lunch we are able to enjoy time to relax in the pool, jacuzzi or on deck looking for wildlife and watching the scenery change as we cruise to our afternoon destination.
