1 MOL Liner Ltd. Announces On-Time Departure Performance Results for April to June for Key Services Calling at China Ports August 14, Hong Kong MOL Liner Ltd. announces the On-Time Departure Performance quarterly results for April to June for key services calling at China ports in East-West, North-South and Intra-Asia trade lanes. In July 2015, MOL established a 100% on-time departure performance goal to offer industryleading transparency to customers and to showcase MOL s strength as a carrier that provides high quality service. The performance measurement program in China is in addition to the Global KPI and Regional KPI launched four years ago by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. On March 9,, THE Alliance announced its services and these were launched in April. As one of the members of THE Alliance, MOL will continue to disclose service performance in order to strengthen the communications with our valued customers and enhance transparency. Scope of trade lanes and services East-West Trade (G6 service): East-West Trade (THE Alliance service): North-South Trade: Intra-Asia Trade: (SE2-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (SVS-E) Asia-Europe (LP4- (PN2/PS3/PS4/PS5/PS7-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (EC3-E) Asia-Europe (FE3/FE4- Asia-East Coast South America (CSW- S) Asia-Mexico/West Coast South America (CWL-E) Asia-South Africa (SAC-W and SAS- Japan-China/Straits (CHS-S) Japan-China/Straits/India/Pakistan (HSX- Measurement criteria are: We measure vessel departure in China, within 24 hours of scheduled actual time of departure versus proforma. A voyage is regarded as on-time if it departs the last China port of call within 24 hours of proforma. In each trade, Table 1 covers all vessels in the above scope and Table 2 covers vessels under MOL operations. 1

2 I. East-West Trade (under G6 service) The measuring ports of East-West Trade under operation are as follows: Trade Measuring Port East-West Trade (SE2-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (SVS-E) Asia-Europe (LP4- Hong Kong (E/B) Yantian (E/B) Yantian (W/B) (April June ) (SE2-E) 100% 100% 100% 92% 100% Asia-U.S. East Coast (SVS-E) 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% Asia-Europe (LP4-54% 62% 15% 8% 0% (Table 2) (SE2-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (SVS-E) Asia-Europe (LP4- (April June ) 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% NO MOL vessels were deployed in SVS-E service. No MOL vessels were deployed in LP4-W service since October Note: In April to June, MOL s Asia to U.S. West Coast service (SE2-E) continued to achieve 100% on-time departure performance. The overall performance of the Asia to U.S. East Coast (SVS-E) also achieved 100% performance in the corresponding period. The Asia to Europe service (LP4- further deteriorated from 8% in January to March to 0% in April to June due to berth congestion in Yantian and Shekou. 2

3 East-West Trade (THE Alliance services) The measuring ports of East-West Trade are as follows: Trade Measuring Port East-West Trade (PN2, PS3, PS4, PS5 and PS7-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (EC3-E) Asia-Europe (FE3 and FE4- PN2 (E/B) and PS7-E - Yantian PS3 (E/B) - Hong Kong PS4 (E/B) - Keelung PS5 (E/B) - Ningbo Shanghai (E/B) Yantian (W/B) (April June ) (5) 65% (PN2, PS3, PS4, PS5 and PS7-E) Asia-U.S. East Coast (1) 36% (EC3-E) Asia-Europe (2) 82% (FE3 and FE4- The following performance criteria were used: Measured 8 services on MOL s East-West trade on all vessels. The following performance criteria were used: Measured 5 services on MOL s East-West trade on MOL s own vessels. 3

4 Note: MOL operated vessels in the Asia to U.S. West Coast service (PN2, PS3 and PS7-E) achieved 74% on-time departure performance in April to June. Accumulated delays in PN2 and PS7- E were caused by late phased-in vessels in Asia. Also, port congestion in Shanghai port and Ningbo adversely affected the departure schedule. No MOL vessels were deployed in the Asia to U.S. East Coast and Asia to Europe services. The overall performance of Asia to U.S. West Coast (PN2, PS3, PS4, PS5 and PS7-E) was 65% and Asia to U.S. East Coast (EC3-E) reached 65% and 36%, respectively, in April to June. The PN2 and PS4 services were delayed because of low port productivity and berth congestion in Laem Chabang and Cai Mep, as well as late phase-in vessels in Asia. The overall performance for the Asia to Europe service (FE3 and FE4- was 82% in April and June, due to the impact of port congestion in Shanghai. II. The Asia to Mexico/West Coast South America (CWL-E) remained at 25% in April to June due to port congestion in Ningbo. In April to June, the on-time departure performance of both MOL s SAC-W and SAS-W services regressed compared to January to March due to serious port congestion in Shanghai, Ningbo and Xiamen. The on-time departure performance of the CHS-S service improved from 69% in January to March to 77% in April to June.
