Potential for town & attractions nearby to be significantly developed. St. Ann-Ocho Rios/Runaway Bay Major cruise, long stay & marquee attractions tourism centre. Being upgraded. Portland-Port Antonio Great Eco-heritage tourism potential but currently underdeveloped. Historic Triangle of Port Royal, Kingston & Spanish Town Traditional business centre but huge heritage, cultural/eco-tourism potential and also potential major shopping and ICT Centre. Logistics Hub SEZ development taking place at various locations, such as Goat Island, Montego Bay, Portmore, Mandeville, Caymanas and Kingston

6 STRATEGIES Focus on Transformational Major Economic Impact Developments Divest idle assets & Management of underperforming assets to Private Sector organizations Focus on Urban Centers of Kingston/Port Royal; Spanish Town; Caymanas; Portmore; Ocho Rios; Montego Bay; Falmouth & Others Rural Centers to drive investment and job generation Provide Technical Services to other Public and Private sector entities & earn fees

7 ACHIEVEMENTS - DIVESTMENT OF ASSETS Forum Hotel- On the divestment agenda since 1991 now divested to a private sector group as a residential and commercial complex. Oceana Hotel- Divested to private sector interests for refurbishing as a hotel and business complex to bring back economic activity to downtown Kingston. Machado Complex- Divested to Heart Trust to develop a downtown Kingston education and training complex to develop new skills of our people Jamintel Building- Divested to Ministry of Transport & Works to satisfy their need for space for offices and to move major public sector operation back downtown to drive economic development. Lot 21 Downtown Kingston- Sold to Grace Kennedy to develop a Commercial Centre and Parking Facility in downtown Kingston.

8 ACHIEVEMENTS - PROJECTS Pearly Beach Phase I - This beach has been developed as a prime location for local major events and for cruise passengers. Chapel Lane open Market- Adjacent to the Coronation Market this has been refurbished and is now ready to be operated by private concessionaires. Victoria Pier Craft Market - this craft market has been refurbished and is now being considered for private sector management. Simon Bolivar Cultural Centre - this cultural Centre which is essentially a gift from the people of Venezuela is now ready to be handed over to the Institute of Jamaica to be operated as a major Cultural Centre. Ocho Rios cruise Ship Pier & Turtle River Road improvement Sabina Park Lighting - Kingston

9 INVESTMENT PROJECTS KINGSTON Northern Car Park Site (Port Royal Street) To be developed as a multi-storey Mixed use Office Building & Car Park via a Public- Private-Partnership (PPP).

10 INVESTMENT PROJECTS KINGSTON The Festival Marketplace Development Plan objective is to develop a commercial, recreational and entertainment centre as a major public amenity for downtown Kingston. It is located between West Street and Ocean Boulevard along the precincts of the Victoria Craft Market and the Fishing Complex land to the west.

12 INVESTMENT PROJECTS KINGSTON & PORT ROYAL Downtown Kingston/Port Royal Heritage Tourism Development Project is conceptualized to present to the world the true essence of Jamaica and its History, Heritage and Culture for which we are most famously known. The concept of the project is to develop the potential of Heritage Tourism in the Historic Triangle by exposing the history, music, food, dance, speech, theatre, art, craft, sports and vibrant creative spirit of the Jamaican people to the world.

13 INVESTMENT PROJECTS - ST CATHERINE FORT CLARENCE BEACH PARK UDC is rehabilitating the Fort Clarence Beach Park We re-establish the family beach and leisure concept originally envisioned when the facility was first developed in Strategic partnership with the private sector to create opportunities for socioeconomic development. Private sector proposals for conceptualising, funding, and executing the implementation of the additional attractions have been invited

14 LOTS IN HELLSHIRE ST CATHERINE Twelve (12) residential lots The development benefits from paved roadways, telephone service, cable television, high speed internet, electricity and piped mains water Adjacent to Johnson Hill West of Fort Clarence Beach The Hellshire area is planned and designed as the 'future city' prime area for urban development

JAMES/MONTEGO BAY Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre Inviting proposals from the general public for the acquisition (by way of lease), rehabilitation, management, and maintenance of the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex as a public entertainment, leisure, and recreational space as a part of the Montego Bay development plan.

16 SEASIDE AT ROSEHALL MONTEGO BAY, ST JAMES Located on the northern side of reserved roadway which runs parallel with the North Coast Highway opposite the Montego Bay Convention Centre, to be developed to compliment the Montego Bay Convention Centre. A total of eight(8) lots on acres Private sector developers to be invited to submit proposals to develop high end Resort/residential Development in Condominium type projects... 17 MONTEGO BAY REDEVELOPMENT PLAN Draft Mo-Bay Redevelopment Plan prepared with Montego Bay stakeholders inputs & currently being updated IDB s Action Plan recommendations being incorporated Other agencies involved include NWA, NEPA, PIOJ, SDC, Police Force, Fire Brigade, St. James Parish Development Committee St James Parish Council and the Ministry of Local Government are the lead agencies on this. Plans include: A Land Use & Smart Growth Management Plan An Environmentally Sustainable Transportation Program A Sustainable Bus Transportation System on local Bus Routes Downtown Transportation Centers A Walkable Downtown A Downtown Housing Program Plan
