6 Page 6 of 13 9:02 AM Great Bay Boardwalk the boardwalk along Great Bay has an extensive beachfront where you can rent chairs and umbrellas; buy souvenirs from the locals selling island hats, jewelry and more; enjoy a picnic at the many thatched-roof picnic tables; frolic in the crystal blue water; or quench your thirst (or hunger) at the dozens of restaurants and bars. You can also find plenty of water sports operators to arrange snorkeling, scuba-diving and fishing excursions. 3 hr 30 min Sea Discovery by Kayak & Snorkelling PRICE An exciting kayaking experience awaits you on this half-day tour, which begins at the pristine Kim Sha Beach one of the most popular on the island for an initial demonstration of paddling techniques. You will then kayak through Simpson Bay Lagoon to reach a small beach at the Pelican Resort for a snorkelling lesson, after which your guide will accompany you on a 5-minute swim to a shallow reef located at Pelican Rock. You will then have about 45 minutes to explore the beautiful undersea world at this special spot. The wildlife you are likely to see includes elegant angel fish and gaudy parrot fish as well as numerous other rainbowcoloured reef dwellers. A guide in a kayak will remain on hand while you snorkel in case you need any assistance. Later, you can relax on the sandy beach before heading back down the Pelican coast, from which you can also enjoy great views of the neighbouring islands of Saba, Sint Eustatius and St. Kitts. The on-board guide will tell you about the history of Flemish Bay as you cross and then you ll sail along the coastline to reach L îlet à Ramiers, a tiny green dot in the sea located just off the shore. The catamaran will draw close to the conical islet so you can snap photos and savour the views, especially when you pass the bat cave.
