Lighting scheme design-lumen Method This is method for estimting luminire quntities nd spcing for lyouts tht is more ccurte becuse the difference in photometric performnce cused by room geometry nd system deprecition re tken into ccount. 1. This fctor comprises mostly of the following: 1. Lumen Deprecition. (LLD) 2. Luminire Dirt Deprecition. (LDD) Lumen Deprecition is the loss of light output with time. Luminire Dirt Deprecition is the loss of light output due to soiling of the luminire with time. Outdoor Lighting Design Industril ctivities do tke plce in the outdoor loction s well. Lumen method is not pplicble there. Mnul clcultions re mde either by Point by Point method which is quite time consuming nd lborious or by using stndrd tbles. The modern method is to use the help of computer. Computer Aided Lighting Design In order to prepre number of lternte nd ccurte illumintion designs within short period of time nd therefter to hve the most economic nd optimum design, the present dy designers / users tke help of computer insted of working out mnully. For computer ided designs the preliminry steps re identicl s in the conventionl methods of clcultion except tht finl computtion is done with the help of computer. For computer ided designs, which require exhustive photometric dt of the luminires. The results re obtined with the help of softwre. We not only provide the photometric dt of ll the luminires but lso provide the most modern outdoor softwre for illumintion design to the Architects, Consultnts, Project Authorities nd the ctul users on request. Stte-of-the-rt softwre enbles to work out number of lternte designs giving the horizontl & verticl illumintion levels, uniformity rtios in shortest possible time. In-house designed nd developed outdoor softwre OLAS is very useful lighting tool for quick estimtion of bsic design. New Trends in Industril Lighting Select the lmp tht provides energy efficient Lighting Solutions:. Use luminires with energy efficient T5 fluorescent lmp insted of conventionl 40 W FTL. Aprt from excellent colour rendering properties, these lmps hve higher luminous efficcy. Less number of luminires will be required due to improved illumintion hence reducing cost of instlltion. This lso ensures lower energy consumption of the totl instlltion for sme illumintion level. b. Instlltion of Compct Fluorescent s (CFL's) in plce of incndescent lmps. Compct fluorescent lmps re generlly considered best for replcement of lower wttge incndescent lmps. These lmps hve efficcy rnging from 55 to 65 lumens/wtt. The verge rted lmp life is pproximtely 10 times longer thn tht of norml incndescent lmps. CFL's re highly suitble for plces such s conference rooms, offices, pthwys, building entrnces, corridors, etc. c. Instlltion of metl hlide lmps in plce of mercury / sodium vpour lmps. Metl hlide lmps provide high color rendering index when compred with mercury & sodium vpour lmps. These lmps offer efficient white light. Hence, metl hlide lmp is the right choice for colour criticl pplictions where, higher illumintion levels re required. These lmps re highly suitble for pplictions such s ssembly line, inspection res, pinting shops, etc. d. Instlltion of High Pressure Sodium Vpour (HPSV) lmps for pplictions where colour rendering is not criticl. High pressure sodium vpour (HPSV) lmps offer more efficcy. But the colour rendering property of HPSV is very low. Hence, it is recommended to instll HPSV lmps for pplictions such s street lighting, yrd lighting, ssembly workshop, storge re etc. Selection of Esy to service luminires for production res nd workshops. Instlltion of suitble luminires, depends upon the height - low, medium & high by. luminires for high intensity dischrge lmp re clssified s follows: Low by, for heights less thn 5 metres. Medium by, for heights between 5 7 metres. High by, for heights greter thn 7 metres. Ese of Mintennce hs become criticl fctor in selection of high by or medium by luminire. High bys with front opening housing (Similr to HBI F) ensures fster nd hssle free mintennce. This results in lower down time during mintennce. Customers re lso now preferring luminires with replceble bllst ssembly. Use of T5 luminires for low by / medium by pplictions. Trditionlly, luminires with HPMV lmps were used for low by pplictions. In view of the energy efficiency offered by T5 luminires, customers re selecting T5 luminires for Low by nd medium by pplictions. (BTMB Rnge). Use of high efficcy T5 lmps (24 W / 54W T5 ) ensures lower number of luminires for sme instlltion. Use of Electronic Bllsts for fluorescent lmp luminires nd Open type bllsts for HID luminires. Electronic bllsts ensure flicker free high qulity illumintion for Fluorescent lmp luminires. They lso provide substntil energy svings s wtt loss in bllst is 2-3 Wtts only. Conventionl potted bllsts hve now given wy to Vcuum Pressure impregnted open construction bllsts in HID lmp fittings. This ensures lower heting nd more relible opertion.
