1 LAND BASED TOUR SANTA CRUZ BASIS ITINERARY 7 DAYS /6 NIGHTS DAY 1: TRANSFER IN & OVERNIGHT QUITO International flight to Quito/ Guayaquil. Upon arrival to the capital city, private Transfer In to hotel. Dinner at hotel. DAY 2: FLIGHT TO BALTRA / AFTERNOON VISIT TO CHARLES DARWIN STATION Early breakfast at hotel. Transfer out to Airport to take the flight to Santa Cruz Island (2h30 minutes). Upon arrival to Baltra Island, private transfer In to Puerto Ayora, about 40 minutes drive. Check In at Hotel. Time to unpack and lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon walk to visit Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about the conservation and preservation of the islands and visit the oldest resident, the famous Lonesome George. Dinner at hotel. DAY 3: VISIT TO SEYMOUR ISLAND & BACHAS BEACH Early breakfast. Drive to the Itabaca Channel to take a Day Tour Boat to Seymour Island. The island is located just north of Baltra, Mosquera and Santa Cruz. The visit to North Seymour takes about 1 hour 45 minute hike on mostly flat sandy and rocky terrain. There are good nesting sites here for a large population of magnificent frigate birds and blue footed boobies perform their courtship dance. The landing is rich in wildlife: Sea lions, swallow-tailed gulls, lava gulls, tropicbirds, brown noddy terns and pelicans. Lunch aboard. 1

2 DAY 5: VISIT TO BARTOLOME ISLAND & SULLIVAN BAY A.M. Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Itabaca Channel to take the daily tour boats towards Bartolome Island. Bartolome, the most visited and most photographed island in the Galapagos, consists of an extinct volcano and a variety of red, orange, green, and glistening black volcanic formations. The best known of the island s features is the tuff cone known as Pinnacle Rock, where we hike to the top to appreciate one of the most spectacular views of the Archipelago. We return to the boat for a box lunch. Afterwards, navigation to Bachas Beach, easy landing into a delightful swimming sandy beach with a lagoon behind and a longer beach for wildlife watching. The saltwater lagoon often has blue herons and small waders such as sanderlings and semi palmated plovers. Marine iguanas lurk on the rocks between the beaches; hermit crabs create tiny tracks in the sand. Nice snorkel spot. Return to Itabaca Channel. Private transportation to the hotel. Dinner. DAY 4: VISIT PLAZAS ISLAND & PUNTA CARRION Early breakfast. Navigation on daily boats to Plaza Island. Careful disembark on the landing site, The island is home to enormous prickly pear cactus and the endemic succulent sesuvian. South Plaza has one of the largest populations of land iguanas in the Galapagos. The iguanas seem to be everywhere once you land. These yellow-brown land iguanas feed on the fruit and pads of the prickly pear cactus. South Plaza is also home to marine iguanas living along the coast and a hybrid iguana whose fathers are marine iguanas and mothers are land iguanas. Box lunch aboard. Navigation to Punta Carrión. During this excursion, we have a chance to snorkel and see a variety of fish, rays, and perhaps the harmless white tip sharks. From Punta Carrion we navigate a short distance through the beautiful Itabaca Channel with its turquoise waters. Return to Puerto Ayora. Dinner at local restaurant. P.M.: Navigation to Sullivan Bay, on the east coast of Santiago, tol and on a White coral sand beach and begin our walk over lava (ropey lava) that flowed less tan 100 years ago. A perfect place to feel the volcanic origin of the islands. Return to Santa Cruz, private transportation to Puerto Ayora. Dinner at hotel. DAY 6: VISIT TO TWIN CRATERS / TRANSFER OUT TO QUITO Early breakfast. Drive towards to take a short hike to visit the two volcanic craters known as Los Gemelos, located opposite each other on both sides of the road leading to Baltra. These formations were created by the collapse of surface material in underground fissures and chambers, They are not real craters, only figurative. Inmediate transfer out to airport. Transfer IN hotel in Quito. Dinner at hotel and overnight. 2 3

This often helps your digestive system get in shape for new flora. Immodium, Lomotil, or similar anti-diarrhea medicine. Pepto-Bismol tablets and/or liquid (in leak-proof bottle). Laxative tablets. Visine or similar eye drops. Ear plugs. OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS Check-in at the airport is required 2-hours before departure. Passengers checking in for flights to or from the Galapagos Islands are required to show their passport.
