1 J 2018 V XXV, I 7 Monthly Statistical Report IN JULY 2018 Stopover arrivals up 3.4% US Market up 4.6% Canada down 2.0% Europe down 0.2% Cruise Passenger down by 5.4% TOURIST (Stopover Arrivals) Stopover arrivals in July 2018 were 257,050, an increase of 3.4% over the 248,626 recorded in July 2017 and a 12.7% increase over the 228,169 in For the first three months of summer, May to July, arrivals increased by 6.3%, with 681,802 stopovers compared to 641,414 in For the January to July period, arrivals increased by 5.5%, with 1,511,538 stopovers compared to 1,432,379 in United States Stopover arrivals from the United States market recorded an increase of 4.6% in July 2018, with a total of 186,582 arrivals compared to the 178,432 arrivals who visited in July All the US marke ng regions recorded increases in arrivals, the Northeast with 80,115 up by 2.7%, the South with 53,379 up by 6.4%, the West with 28,558 up by 7.3%, and the Mid West with 24,530 up by 3.8%. All For the summer period, May to July 2018, the US market Other region recorded a 7.9% increase in arrivals, with 493, % visitors compared to the 457,542 visitors during the same period in The Northeast increased by 6.3%, the South grew by 8.6%, the West increased by 9.0% and the Midwest increased by 10.0%. Year to date, January to July 2018, the US market region has grown by 7.7%, with 1,004,480 visitors, which is 71,466 more visitors compared to the 933,014 visitors that arrived in 2017 and 108,265 or 12.1% more than the 896,215 in The Northeast has grown by 6.3%, the South up by 8.6%, the Midwest up by 8.9%, and the West up by 8.4%. Canada USA 66.5% In July 2018, the Canadian market recorded a decline in arrivals of 2.0%, with 26,225 stopovers compared to 26,773 in July Stopover arrivals from Atlan c Canada fell by 15.1%; the main provinces of Nova Sco a and Newfoundland decreased by 5.3% and 19.0% respec vely over July Stopover arrivals from Central Canada fell by 1.2%; the leading province of Ontario fell by 2.8%, while the second most important Canadian province of Quebec grew by 7.0%. Stopover arrivals from Western Canada fell by 8.7%; the main province of Alberta recorded a decline of 7.1%, and the arrivals from Bri sh Columbia declined by 6.4%. For the first three months of Summer 2018, May to July, arrivals from Canada are up 2.0% with 76,787 stopovers compared to 76,787 during the same period in MARKET SHARE January July 2018 Cumula vely, the Canadian market with 248,839 has grown by 0.6% above the 247,324 visitors in The top producing provinces of Ontario with 172,589 rose by 1.9%, and Quebec, with 32,324 visitors rose by 12.5%. Europe The European market region recorded a decrease of 0.2% in July 2018, with 31,511 stopover arrivals compared to the 31,576 recorded in July In the Northern European region, the main visitor producing country, the United Kingdom, with 22,017 arrivals, grew by 2.8%. Canada 16.5% UK 8.2% Europe 4.3% Caribbean 2.6% In the South Western European region, Germany with 2,649 visitor arrivals increased by 10.0%, Spain with 1,197 fell by 39.5%, Belgium with 911 arrivals increased by 8.7%, and the Italy with 830 fell by 7.8%. Stopover arrivals from Central East Europe with 432 arrivals grew by 8.5%. For the summer period, May to July 2018, arrivals from Europe grew by 2.8%, with 79,557 arrivals compared to 77,373 in For the January to July 2018 period, arrivals from the European market region grew by 2.2%. Total stopover arrivals were 190,158 compared to 186,132 in Northern Europe fell by 3.3%, moving down from 135,312 in 2017 to 130,798 in Arrivals from the South/West region grew by 14.7% with 52,216 arrivals, and those from the Central/East region increased by a notable 35.1% with 7,144 arrivals. Latin America Arrivals from La n America increased by 5.9% in July 2018, with a total of 3,339 stopovers compared to 3,152 in July From the Central American region, stopover arrivals fell by 0.5% with 839 arrivals. Mexico with 368 arrivals fell by 2.6%, and Panama with 178 grew by 2.3%. From the South American region, stopover arrivals increased by 8.3% with 2,500 arrivals. Chile with 722 increased by 21.1%, Argen na with 569 arrivals increased by 5.0%, and Brazil with 469 arrivals increased by 28.8%. For the summer period, May to July 2018, arrivals from La n America grew by 4.1%, with 9,043 arrivals compared to 8,689 in Cumula vely, January to July 2018, stopover arrivals from La n America increased by 8.4%, with a total of 20,835 arrivals compared to 19,229 in Stopovers from Central America fell by 2.7%. The main producing countries of Mexico declined by 8.5% and Panama increased by 3.8%. Stopover from South America increased by 12.7% with 15,565 arrivals. The top producing countries of Argen na with 4,360 grew by 20.5%, Brazil with 3,650 grew by 25.2%, while Chile with 3,373 fell by 1.0%.

2 The Caribbean Stopover arrivals to Jamaica from the Caribbean region grew by 9.4% in July 2018 with a total of 7,728 visitors, compared to 7,064 in July The Cayman Islands and Trinidad & Tobago con nued to be the major visitor producing Caribbean countries in July 2018 with 2,084 and 1,096 stopover arrivals, respec vely. Year to date, stopovers for the January July period grew by 4.7% moving up from 36,840 in 2017 to 38,556 in 2018 Asia The Asian market fell by 14.0% in July 2018 with a total of 794 stopovers compared to 923 in July China, India, and Japan, are the major visitor producing countries with 312, 178 and 138 stopovers arriving from each country, respec vely. For the January July 2018 period, stopover arrivals from Asia fell by 20.6%, with 4,739 arrivals compared to 5,966 arrivals in Other Countries Overall, stopover arrivals from other countries increased by 1.5% with 3,931 arrivals, for the January July 2018 period. Of the Other Countries, Australia provided the most stopover arrivals to Jamaica, with 1,378 visitors in 2018 compared to 1,550 in This represents a decrease of 11.1%. Market Share The market share of stopover visitors for January to July 2018 was as follows: USA 66.5%; Canada 16.5%; UK 8.2%; Con nental Europe 4.3%, the Caribbean 2.6%; and the others, including La n America and Asia 2.0%. Page 2 Thousands Cruise Passengers A total of 104,127 cruise passengers visited Jamaica in July This represented a 5.4% decrease over the 110,034 who visited in July ,200 1, CRUISE PASSENGER ARRIVALS BY PORT JANUARY JULY 1, For July 2018, Cruise passengers visi ng the port of Ocho Rios grew by 17.4% with 41,486 passengers. Those visi ng the port of Falmouth fell by 23.9% with 32,530 passengers and Montego Bay grew by 5.8% with 30,111 passengers. The period January July 2018 saw 1,134,008 cruise passenger arrivals visi ng the three major ports, an increase of 45,290 passengers or 4.2%. Length of Stay 1, , MoBay Ocho Rios Falmouth Total The average length of stay of Foreign Na onal arrivals in July 2018 was 8.7 nights, compared to 8.8 nights in July The average length of stay in hotels was 6.2 nights in July 2018, compared to 6.3 nights in July The average length of stay of Non Resident Jamaican arrivals in July 2018 was 18.3 nights compared to 18.0 in July The average length of stay in hotels in July 2018 was 8.7 nights, compared to 8.8 in July Year to date, January to July 2018, the average length of stay for Foreign Na onals in all types of accommoda on was 7.9 nights compared to 8.3 nights during the same period in For the Non Resident Jamaican arrivals the average length of stay was 16.7 nights compared to 16.3 nights in Purpose of Visit During the month of July 2018, 92.9% or 219,745 of the 236,440 Foreign Na onals visited Jamaica for Leisure, 2.8% were on Business, 3.7% were on Other purposes of travel and 0.6% did not state their purpose of travel. A total of 17,532 or 85.1% of the 20,610 Non Resident Jamaicans were visi ng for Leisure, 2.5% were on Business, 9.4% were on Other purposes of travel and 3.0% failed to provide a reason for travel. Year to date January to July 2018, 91.1% or a total of 1,377,677 of the total stopover arrivals of 1,511,538 visited Jamaica for Leisure, 3.8% were on Business, 4.5% were on Other purposes of travel and 0.6% did not state their purpose of travel. Intended Resort Area of Stay Of the 257,050 stopover arrivals visi ng Jamaica in July 2018, the resort area of Montego Bay welcomed 85,836 arrivals or 33.4%; Ocho Rios received 60,651 or 23.6%, Negril welcomed 45,045 or 17.5%; and 25,503 or 9.9% visited Kingston. The remaining 15.6% stayed in the Mandeville/South Coast, Port Antonio resort regions and Other areas in Jamaica. Between January and July 2018, the distribu on remain the same and the combina on of Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios accounted for 1,178,799 or 78.0% of the stopover arrivals. Type of Airlines used Of the 1,511,538 stopover visitors to Jamaica in the period of January to July 2018, 1,401,812 or 92.7% used scheduled airlines, while 109,726 or 7.3% used chartered flights. During the corresponding period in 2017 the percentage distribu on was: 92.6% used scheduled airlines and 7.4% used chartered flights. Monthly Statistical Report
