7 20 th ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION OVERVIEW The conference was held in Guadeloupe and chaired by the President of SIAEAG, Mr. Amelius Hernandez. Major highlights of the conference were: 1. Hosting of the 7 th High Level Session. 2. (70) Exhibitors participated and more than thirty (30) technical papers were presented. 3. There was an invitation issued by the French Minister of Water and the organizers for World Water Day to attend the 6th World Water Forum which was held in Marseilles, France in March 2012.

8 21 st ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT The 2012 conference site of the Bahamas was announced at the 2011 Conference and Exhibition. And, the CWWA Conference Banner was handed over from Guadeloupe to the Bahamas at the Awards Ceremony.

9 CWWA s ACCOMPLISHMENTS CWWA Website Upgraded to allow for ease of updates by the CWWA s team and for the Members Forum which allows financial members to log in and access information. Visit us at Production of CWWA Magazine Caribbean Flow - The Caribbean Flow Magazine is now incorporated into the Annual Conference Magazine.

10 CWWA s ACCOMPLISHMENTS E-newsletter Issuance of the first in the series of quarterly electronic or E-newsletter, titled The CWWA INFOstructure. The first issue was published on June 30 th and was placed on the CWWA s website. CWWA s Facebook Page Launched a Facebook Page to incorporate social media for ease of communications and transmittal of information

11 CWWA s ACCOMPLISHMENTS Sector News - The Sector News continues to be circulated via blast to the membership every week and is linked to the website. Members can use Sector News and the website to advertise job vacancies, request for proposals and information about their sector. CWWA Membership Cards Cards were generated and were distributed to all financial members. Visit our Booth in the Exhibit Hall to become current or become a member prior to the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

12 STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE Vision To be the pre-eminent association of professional and practitioners for water and waste sectors in the Caribbean. Mission To advance the science and practice of water supply, wastewater and solid waste management, and promote the efficient management of utilities for the sustainable development of Caribbean people.

14 STRATEGIC PLAN UPDATE Strengths Membership with the capacity to network to solve institutional problems Shared interests and culture among Caribbean people. Full regional participation in the CWWA Conference and Exhibition. Extensive depth and breadth of industry knowledge. Weaknesses Limited opportunity for involvement of the membership in the promotion of CWWA s initiatives. Limited financial capacity to facilitate implementation of initiatives. Inadequate structure and staffing of the Secretariat. Executive Committee operates as both Technical/Executive Director and Executive Board. Over-reliance on annual conference to fund operations of the Association. Not seen as a vocal and visible advocate commensurate in the expanding role of water and wastewater management in economic development.

16 COLLABORATIONS AIDIS/PAHO Conference - The Inter-American Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering held the IX Regional Conference for North America and the Caribbean November 16 through 18, 2011 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Vice President Jason Johnson participated on the Association s behalf.

17 COLLABORATIONS PAHO/WHO WHO and PAHO held a collaborating centres meeting on sustainable development and environmental health in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The title of the workshop was Workshop on Health and Development in the Context of Rio +20. Past President Eng. Gibson participated.

18 NATIONAL SECTION ANNUAL REPORTS National Sections Annual Reports were collected from Grenada Barbados. Highlights of CWWA Secretariat s activities include: 1. World Water Day 2012 Workshop in Trinidad; 2. Voluntary Early Separation Plan (VESP) Exposition (2012) held by the Water and Sewerage Authority, Trinidad and Tobago.
